Well Pluggy, what message does that send. I don't think this soldier deserves to have his life and career destroyed but the attitude that "Inter arma enim silent leges" just makes us no better then them.

The truth is we aren't any better then they are, we just did our nasty deeds to control our country longer ago.

Why aren't we holding the northern alliance to the same standards we do the taliban? Why do we willingly ignore the disgusting actions of the people we call allies? Thats just wrong.

Even when we define actions as evil we simply ignore it when "our allies" commit the same acts we claim to abhor.

My question is to the vets. This looks to me like a problem that would/should have been resolved by the next up the line. The fact that it's here now now makes me believe that the superior was either worried that the news would leak out and they'd get in trouble or that they agreed with the charge.
If the story is as shown and you were the superior, what would you have done.

Your question has a very simple answer. Do whats right. Seems so far that someone came forward and said "I saw this". Therefore, action had to be taken.

Unfortunately we all signed up to the Geneva Convention so IF he did shoot an unarmed already wounded Taliban fighter then he will more than likely do time for it. Under the Geneva Convention anyone injured is entitled to the same treatment that we would give one of our own soldiers even if they are enemy. Whether I agree with this is another matter.
