GW is a natural thing, as is global cooling. Every so many years, we slide into an iceage. (global cooling) That means, every so many years, we slide out of an iceage. (global warming)
When we industrialized, of course we put more shit in the air than before. But I think it is too early to say with certainty that Nature will not restore. You know, that 150 years of industrialization is nothing compared of the time the earth exists. We just cannot tell.
We can sure as hell recycle and be careful, and take nature seriously, but we should not underestimate the power of nature. Like we should never underestimate our own imune-system by taking medication everytime we THINK we might get a cold...

N_Fiddledog N_Fiddledog: Here's a video debate on what's being discussed. I'll leave it to you to decide who gets their ass kicked.
You saw a clear winner? Just talking heads restating the positions we have all heard probably one thousand times already.

Were you able to get to the video Brenda? It's showing you to be correct, you know. (Although I'm not sure what any of this has to do with recycling. Two completely different issues.)

You saw a clear winner? Just talking heads restating the positions we have all heard probably one thousand times already. As I said, make up your own mind. Yours told you to tell people the video should not be viewed. Mine was Horner kicked. Anybody else if free to come to whatever decision they like.

"Global Warming" in the context the alarmists use it, is as big a myth as Y2K was. I didn't buy the bullshit then, and I'm not buyin it now. Oh yeah, and let's not forget how that big bad supercollider in Europe was going to be the death of us all after their experiment. It's all alarmist bullshit that crackpots use, to get their 15 minutes of fame.

(yeah, I know they are 2 different things, just to let people know we DO have to be careful with nature, and limit the shit we throw into it, including gas emition)

This is as bad as the Liberal/Conservative and Foiler topics. I don’t think for one second that anyone can prove anything definitively one way or the other. Brenda made the most valid point in the entire topic. Brenda Brenda: … limit the shit we throw into it…) when referring to the environment. There is no question in my mind that industrial evolution has affected the climate (oceans etc.) with higher than normal emissions of various pollutants over the past couple of hundred years, but how much we’ve affected the climate is still in question.

Except actual pollution - smog, soot, and such would tend to cool the atmosphere, wouldn't it? Doesn't it create sun blocking clouds? Although, soot melts ice when it lands. Slight warming with NoX, and SoX, maybe.
You're right though. There's so much we don't know. Does it seem prudent therefore to drive the orangutans to extinction by leveling their jungle habitat for biofuels, create chemical, polluting factories with carbon offset subsidies in an attempt to limit live-giving CO2, restrict the energy of the third world, drive up the price of food by pouring food into engines, drive up energy prices, overtax the poor, give China and India a competitive advantage, risk shortage of heating energy by switching to inefficient substitutes in a period which looks to getting colder; all in the name of some imagined warming apocalypse we're supposed to worry about while the planet is cooling?

BTW, we were making great strides towards limiting actual pollution before the "CO2 is evil" thing hit. Not so much with the new pollution controls anymore.
It's all about limiting a gas now who's only real provable effect is it makes the planet greener. Plants love it.
