ridenrain ridenrain:
It's off topic but I'll address it: Health care isn't working the way it is and we need to do something. I've never said that 100% privatizing is the way to go but it's obvious that rich people are already paying to go where they need to to get the service they need.

So because rich people aren't willing to use it that's a reason to privatize health care?

Guess it's time to also privatize the Canadian Forces, Post Office, public education, and pretty much every service the federal, provincial, municipal governments provide. After all, the wealthy don't use a lot of basic services that the majority of Canadians use.

That is the worst rationale to privatize health care I've EVER heard.

If it's the solution, why didn't your Liberals legalize drugs then?

No doubt due to threats from the US government about border controls or something. Dubya would have had a brain hemmorage if we had 'legalized' marijuana.

Way to dodge the point. Will Obama be any different?
.. and I'm not going to bother with your health care points. It's off topic.

poquas poquas:
Does anyone, perchance, have any information FROM someone in the senate, explaining why there is a holdup? I believe we have a couple of Conservative members “working” there.

It's typical to bury little partisan goodies in various bills that are completely unrelated to the main purpose of the bill. Every once in awhile someone actually reads the bill and slams on the brakes...... as they should.

They did the exact thing before so why is that so difficult to believe? If they were talking, I could see and at least something would be happening but this is just stonewalling for pure political bias.

Nice dodge yourself...bring shite up and then refuse to defend it.

Obama won't be any different, simply because he isn't the entire US government. There are more than enough congressmen and senators who would freak out over such a move.

They tried to, twice, but an election happened both times, before the bill could even get a first reading.

Derby brought up the healthcare crap. Since he lost this argument so badly, I thought I'd be nice and answer him. You want to discuss it more, you can start your own thread.

Wouldn't they be right to?
A foreign country dumping illegal drugs into your country?

If the Libs want to legalize pot, they can put it on their platform.

Derby: The day you start freely admitting that the Liberal party sometimes does dumb things and start to seperate yourself from the party is the day I cut you some slack.

Uuuggh, blech.. this is you and Derby:

BLAH BLAH BLAH LIBERALS SUCK BLAH BLAH DODGE DODGE DODGE

BLAH BLAH CONSERVATIVE HACK BLAH BLAH DODGITY DODGE DODGE DODGINGTON

Both the Conservatives and Liberals do dumb things, and you both need to stop acting like you're actually in the House of Commons until you decide to buck up and get yourselves a seat there.

We've been down this road before..
RCMP says >90% of the pot grown in BC is smuggled accross the line into the US. Changing the law here won't change the organized crime that is behind this drug smuggling.

Yes it will. Many states are already legalising marijuana, and more are likely to follow. The only thing that makes it criminal to grow and sell marijuana is a law. If that law were struck down, there would be a hell of a lot less of the criminal symptoms that are associated with growing and selling marijuana.

You've both lost your arguments since other than the headline of this topic, NOBODY has any background information to determine or explain the reasons.

You two are the same as a couple of children nattering back and forth about whose father is better. It's tedious and boring. You both represent the opposite sides of the same worthless partisan coin.

Wow. Thank goodness you jumped in to clarify this.

If US states legalize pot, why would they accept product smuggled in from a foreign country? You just are not thinking this through.

IF some US states did, THEN BC could..

even then, it would probably make the softwood lumber treaty look like a comic book.

I think you are referring to decriminalizing possession. A bit of a difference from outright legalization.
