Just a question... When you want to euthanize someone, or NOT do everything possible to save that ones life, is that illegal?

Brenda Brenda:
Religion is a psychosis?

Missed this.....

In the technical sense yes. Psychosis is a loss of contact with reality, typically including delusions, hallucinations, and disorganized thinking.

Religion involves absolute belief in something which is unseen, and cannot be proven (in the scientific sense).

In my personal opinion, religion is nuts.

That means we should prescribe all the religious people in the world pills.

I wouldn't say believing in something is a loss of contact with reality, or any other symptom you name.
With that logic, love at first sight and marriage are psychoses as well...

Hmmm, come to think of it, you might be right

Euthanasia is not legal in Canada, but withholding treatment is not a crime as such. I guess the issue in this case was her age when they refused the treatment. She was still a minor and at that age she would come under the child welfare act..

I guess there's a gray area when it comes to freedom of religion. Sure some rights and beliefs should be respected, however when beliefs involve discrimination, mental/physical abuse, honor killings, etc. there are reasons to step in..... which perhaps also leaves this topic in a similar area where you have to weigh the respect for the belief or the right to step in and "Protect" someone from themselves, their family or their religion.

Certainly not an easy situation to figure out for all cases, that's for sure.
