I have direct access to to claims being processed but due to privacy laws I can not give you specifics. I can say that we process hundreds of thousands of claims a month. I am sure if you want you can find out of all those claims there are some that are not happy but if you look at the entire picture, warts and all, you can see the system is working. The effects are in mortality rates for children, lower drug costs for brand name drugs, and a higher overall life expectancy.

OHHHHHHH Canada?? $975 a month? wow! I pay nothing and I get just the same services. what you pay is not proportional to what you get, if you are seriously injured (see my story on page 2) then you are covered. but if you want to pay $1000/month thats your choice. don't tell us our system is broken when your system is so convoluted that thousands die because they can't afford the treatment they should have a right to receive. a fool and his money are soon parted.

ManifestDestiny ManifestDestiny: On the border between the US and Ontario, we see the "fruits" of socialized medicine every day. Hundreds of patients from Canada coming to the hospitals on the US side for treatment, surgery and whatever else they need. Why? The infamous waiting lists and inadequate medical providers in Canada. Oh Canada... rofl, first of all. No rational Canadian would risk his entire life savings to seek medical help in America for something he can get fixed in Canada. Because hes situation is nowhere near life threatening. Hes not a top priority over people who are dieing. Canadians who go to American Health Care go for the professionalism and experience in specific fields. Such as shark bites. Areas where Canadian Hospitals don't have the equipment for or the experience in. However that arguement can be countered with the same arguement as how many Americans sneak across our border to get cheap health care because there own American Health Care system won't allow them to be treated because they can't afford it? Neither does there insurance if they got any cover there treatment. Atleast in Canada you can be rich, middle class or poor and get treated regardless without any class with more money being a bigger priority. Which is how hospitals and health care in general is suppose to be. Treating all human beings as nothing more than human beings and not divided by class.

Chagrin Chagrin: Man, you all are jumping at MD like a starving wolf. Jesus, don't triple team the guy. That's just dishonorable. He started a arguement on a Canadian forums trying to debate the sides of American Health Care vs Canadian Health Care which is perfectly fine. However seeing how majority are Canadians. It's quite natural hes going to be triple teamed. However the people jumping at him like a starving wolf is because of his way of attempting to make a point. Making it sound more or less like a insult and critisizm rather than a debate. Such as his fantastic endings of his arguement like "OHHHHHHH Canada??". Which by my account he used twice or more in this topic alone.

You make a good point too, and I do not disagree with you. I don't have a problem with him but he does get a little over-the-top sometimes.

llama66 llama66: $975 a month? wow! I pay nothing and I get just the same services. what you pay is not proportional to what you get,. You might pay more a month for your "free health care" but you cant know this cause the goverment does not tell you how much of the taxes you pay per month goes towards healthcare. Lets say you are single you make $60,000 a year in Canada and lets say you pay 20,000 in income tax which is about right may a little low. and 20% percent of that goes to "free healthcare" that $4000 a year thats $333 dollars a month. So no its not good! Or maybe you are happy making peanuts pay very little in taxes and it does work out for you. So then you are a leach off the sweat of others!

Honestly, please pay more maybe they can make that a more like 10 or 20 years less...

You multi- millionares care about a couple of hundred thousand to fix their maladies? $1: 0.5 percent of respondents indicated that they had received health care in the United States in the prior year, but only 0.11 percent (20 of 18,000 respondents) said that they had gone there for the purpose of obtaining any type of health care, whether or not covered by the public plans.
http://cthealth.server101.com/myth_canadians'_use_of_healthcare_in_the_u_s_.htm1.1 in one thousand. lmao...999 people in 1000 use CANADIAN healthcare... What does that tell you?

$1: This month, members of the U. S. health insurance industry admitted to a panel of congressmen that they engage in a practice they call "recission."
This is a practice that begins after a policy-holder is diagnosed with an illness likely to have a high cost. The insurer goes back to the original insurance application, looking for something that might make the policy-holder ineligible. This might be an error or a missed question on the application, whether related to the illness or not. If such a thing is found, the insurance company then cancels the policy retroactively -- no insurance and no payment to the patient, or the doctor, or the hospital. Insurance executives told congressmen that they would not change this practice.
Did you make sure you got all the questions right?

ridenrain ridenrain: herbie herbie: But first you have to convince a lot more Americans that your health is a right and not a commodity. That Health Services are like fire & police protection, defense and civic infrastructure, not like toasters, microwaves and tv sets. To do that, you first need to make them realize that their lives are their own, not in the hands of destiny, "the man", drugs or the system. Too many have surrendered and are happy to play the victims, blaming everyone else for their problems when they do nothing to improve their lot. OMG another time we agree! I see that here too. You're allowed to get off your butt, go to another doctor or demand a specialist if you don't think you're getting proper care. A lot of people I know have done just that (me included). Another bullshit line used by the anti-UHC crowd in the States. On the other hand I do know of American friends who's HMOs wouldn't let them do just that. In BC it's $72 a month for a family premium. Maybe I don't get $975 worth of coverage. Hell I have to pay an extra $100 for dental and extended. There's 90% coverage on dental and 75% on extended and no co-pay at all on the rest. No damned way my taxes are $800 a month more than a US citizen's. So who's just being a stubborn fool opposing UHC?
