I'm not a guy who uses dealers for service, my experience is strictly sales based.

Mechanically speaking, my Ford's have been a nitemare. My 99 Mustang GT spun 3 bearings, which was good in a sense cause it allowed me to drop in a crate motor...and the 1993 F150 was an absolute crap can.

That said, their new stuff is miles ahead of their older stuff. Fit and finish is better, the whole package seems to be better these days. This didn't just start recently, but I'd say it started with the rebirth of the Mustang in 2005 and beyond.

Never owned a Ford car. Never will.
Owned a 62 Econoline, a 76, an 84 Ranger, an 87 and an 89 F150, hated them all. Fall apart farm vehicles.
However that boxy new station wagon thing catches my eye. Might consider one of those in 5 years or so when I replace my Vue.

I also had an Escort and Mercury Topaz...I DON'T CARE IF FORD PUTS OUT A STAINLESS STEEL, UBREAKABLE 100% LIFE TIME WARRANTY ON ALL PARTS AND GETS 1000mpg.....I WILL NOT BUT ANOTHER FORD NO MATTER IF IT'S GOLD-FUCKING PLATED AND RETAILS FOR $1000. They've fucked me enough. I wised up after being ripped off 3 times...pretty smart, aren't I?

I've used the dealer once for warranty service and that was on my wife's Montana. Lower rad hose popped off and I was too lazy to get under it and switch the clamp and refill the coolant.

Cost me $100 for some jerk-off to throw on a $1 clamp and a few bucks worth of coolant cause my deductible was $100.

Bronco II, Escort and a Topaz? No wonder you have a hate on! Those have to be the three of the worst vehicles ford has ever offered up

The Bronco II is actually a Mazda, the escort is Fords first Japanese compact fighter (should never buy anybody's first anything) and the topaz was for people who couldn't afford an actual car. I know, I drove one.

You know, we just rented a Ford Tarus last week and I have to admit I really liked it. I swore I'd never buy anouther Ford after I bought my explorer but it was a pretty nice car.

Had a '94 F150 for 13 years. Finally sold it when the family outgrew it. Never had a single breakdown. Only had to have an exhaust check-valve replaced once and a set of tires. Bought a '05 Yukon and love it (needed a 6-seater). First non-Ford in my family. Ford's quality really has improved the last few years. Too bad it was because the imports forced them to do so and not on their own initiative.
