I'd miss the radio out of any of those - CBC television could disappear tomorrow for all I care, but there are some decent shows on CBC radio that don't have comparable alternatives in Canada.

Scrap 'the hour' and bring back Finklemans 45s!

I could ask why we need CTV & Global when we have all those US shows on CBS, ABC, NBC and FOX at the same time....

Haven't you heard CTV wants to close 3 small market stations instead of investing money to upgrade them to Digital TV for next year. Yes Canada is going to all Digital TV next year like the Americans. So everybody that doesn't have either a cable or satellite receiver will have to get either a digital converter. All of our old TV's will be useless.

Remember CTV is a for private company, they only think of their shareholder. They have created this campaign of save our local stations trying to get the government to get the cable companies to charge us for their signal. Now think about it CTV is only 1 of 35 stations/networks CTVglobemedia own. They are making a profit from all of their other networks so they aren't really losing much with their off air stations. It's all smoke and mirrors.

I'm in Manitoba and Via only has limited service here. But without it being owned by the government there wouldn't be any service at all here.

The CBC is garbage as far as programming goes. They have nothing original that is any good, it's all sooo very safe, and campy. It would be sad to see the news, or their hockey coverage which is the best hockey coverage i have ever seen on TV, gone but whatever, we have other channels to cover this. Channels that are progressive, and that are paying their own way, not taking a handout from us to give us garbage year in and year out. As for the VIA, I have less of an opinion on that. i do know that some people do rely on it, but it seems on the whole to be more of a novelty then anything...especially when you see the prices...holy crap!
