When Libya was listed as hostile at the beginning of the "War on Terror", Khadafi decided to withdraw from any WMD program and decided to resume talks with the US. Sanctions were lifted and now there are diplomatic relations between Libya and the US.
Muammar Qaddafi probably has a much more level head than Kim Jong Il ever will. I don't think the two are comparable. Qaddafi saw that he had a crappy hand and knew when to quit. Kim Jong Il will always pretend he's got a royal flush.

Why not? Any other country would do the same. If you declare war, I think it's pretty reasonable to expect that the country you declare war on will get defensive. Anything less is suicide.

It reminds me of something that happened here in Montreal last week: three kids (aged ~15) attacked a 67yo woman to steal her purse. She tried to resist and finally she was beaten to death. Some community groups said tried to excuse the kids by saying "if she had not resisted, she would still be alive". Come on !
I don't think that's comparable at all.
