They know that nothing is going to happen. It's not hypocrisy, it's symbolism, which often sends a very powerful message.

It's a joke, not symbolism. The fact is, Spain is trying to gather world media attention about this joke of a show trial to probably increase tourism revenues. No international court will bother to try Bush, the Americans won't, nobody will. The fact is, this entire story and situation is nothing more than an expensive play.

Too bad Bush wasn't President of the USA in 1938... or better PM of England...

The world is now a much safer place thanks to Bush, Cheney & Donald Rumsfield...

Now we are talking about a country that wants to ban our seal hunt advocating it is cruel yet their national sport is bull fighting which they maintain is an integral part of their culture...

Hypocrites...

It's debateable how sufe Bush and co. made the world safer from terrorism, and even if they had, they went about it using the methods of the Spanish Inquisition and of a host of brutal regimes which were in violation of both international law, US law, and most importantly the US Constitution.

Gimme a break...!!! So it's ok for these punks to hijack planes and fly them into downtown buildings with the intent to kill secretaries, clerical staff and office workers...

I say boycott Spain. It appears they are a nation of idiots who are more sympathetic to terrorist then an ally...

Ever heard of ETA?

Just remember, it was Spain that nailed Pinochet and its the same prosecutor in this case.

The same Pinochet that avoided said prosecution for
decades, laughing all the way to the funeral home ?

The same Spain that should be convicted for the deaths
of maybe tens of millions of people in Latin America,
and funding an entire empire from the rape and plunder
of said region ? for hundreds of years ??

Can you imagine the reparations from that plunder ?
Trillions..

The same Spain who religously persecuted hundreds of thousands
of Jews and Muslims, committing all levels of war crimes
in their effort to remove all non Catholics from Iberia ?

The same Spain that continues to hold African colonial territory ?

The same Spain ruled by a dictator for longer than Hitler,
committing all manners of crimes and persecution against its
own people, to the point that now all memorials against
Franco are gone, and even saying his name can create troubles ??

The same Spain who put troops on the ground in Iraq,
by your warped thinking, now supporting the Bush war in Iraq ?

Seriously, xerxes, stop drinking the kool aid.

There are few countries in Europe that have as much blood on their hands
than the Spanish, even Nazi Germany would have a tough time keeping up.

Maybe this prosecutor should open a history book once in a while,
he'll find a lot more in his own backyard than Bush and co.
could ever have done.

Spain has been criminal for centuries.

So, this is just some bullshit waste of time joke
to get some free press for the personal glory of an individual,
whose levels of hypocrisy could only be exceeded by those
who could actually support this nonsense.

Except none of those perpatrators are alive anyone (thankfully), Bush his band of criminals is.

Who cares? This has about zero real value.

Okay, have it your way. If laws don't matter to you, why are you so concerned about enforcing them?

What are you talking about? This is about as unenforceable as anything else ever came up with, they have no legal jurisdiction for the "crimes" committed. They have no standing at all.

If this was a US court, then MAYBE, but a Spanish court cannot exactly prosecute a case that did not occur in Spain, unless they are the world's courtroom now.

I thought you were responding to my post :P

That's quite stupid. It maybe symbolic but Spain will just alienate the US a little more. Does it really worth it ? I don't think so.

We really need to start and think about the US differently.. the fact is they are global bullies.. until Obama (yet to prove it) the US has thought their way or not at all and tried to shove their economy, values and everything else down other countries throats.. and the bush admins.. both of them were were war mongers..

( in my humble opinion )
