Has anyone noticed that eating healthy is more expensive. I think the biggest issue is that it costs more to buy the ingredients to make a salad than it does for a huge bag of chips. I bought a 5lb bag of apples the other day for $6.99 plus tax, yet 2 bags of munchies were on sale for $6. How are those on a strict budget supposed top make the best choices when they cant afford to?

Yeah, it sucks...
Like I can see why people can go to McDonalds every day...with the dollar menu its almost impossible to resist going somewhere else.

Eisensapper Eisensapper: Not illegal, just making it more exspensive. If you want to do that, tax the shit out of pop too, and make the healthy foods cheaper, make sure you have fresh produce on the shelfs, good variety of meat, recipies to come with it, so people actually start cooking again. Potatoes are NOT veggies!!

Join a community garden, shop at farmers/produce markets, buy only in season fruit and vegies. Shop and split with friends, I spend way less eating healthy because we are not hungry an hour later. Its about portioning it out with proper proteins and carbs to extend energy periods. Its about researching the best places to shop and what is in or out of season. It can be done, but it is more time consuming to eat a healthy diet.

I'm not sure that eating healthy is more expensive, but if it is, you can compensate for this by not eating out (which in most cases is not eating healthy anyways).

Foods don't fill you up by weight though. So eating a bag a munchies would fill you up just as much as about 5 apples or so.
How many apples are 5 pounds?

High Carb and High Fat foods dont fill you up though. It feels as if you are full, but not long after your body is craving. Having a balanced meal with the right proportion of leafy greens (which fills), healthy carbs, healthy proteins and fats, will fill and sustain over hours. Eating smaller meals and snacks several times a day is the thing to do and by snacks I mean fruit, veggies with or without a small quantity of nuts.

Yeah I stopped drinking soda, unless its White Soda when I feel sick. I have a problem with making food at home and eating huge proportions.
Just going between college and work with an hour in between sometimes leads me to not eat and eat a huge dinner, or stop at a fast food place.
But I stopped drinking soda and eating a lot when I have to go out to eat and I lost 30 pounds in the last two months.

I am not saying that I bought the munchies, I definitely bought the apples. I try to eat a healthy diet and eat fruit and veggies and potatoes everyday, and I love cooking at home!!
