Zipperfish Zipperfish:
No it wasn't an attempt at humour; I'm quiote serious about it. The technology is not excatly cutting edge anymore and the nuclear club grows every year. Refusal to go nuclear will soon be akin to Quakers not weearing buttons on their clothes because they are too modern.

And you say we disagree on basically everything

Just curious, does anybody know if we used depleted uranium shells?

Umm not in small arms, you would have to ask a tanker if we carry any DU in our armour piercing shells.

What's depleted uranium good for? It seems like it would be a bit expensive for standard ammunition, so I'm assuming some sort of armor piercing capability.

Eh, I didn't know there were any other shells other than anti-tank DU shells. Oh well. I'm pretty sure that it wouldn't exactly be healthy for the victim, or the shooter.

I think during Desert Storm the A-10s had DU rounds, I remember hearing something about DU rounds for .50 Cals but I cant back that up....

They are not that dangerous, its only if they are not recovered. I think it takes several years of constant exposure before you will see the effects of contamination.
