Both teams have 2 games left, and neither is against each other, don't they? Wouldn't Calgary need two wins to get a lock?
Aren't they in a tie right now in the standings? Calgary gets first if it's tied at the end by virtue of most actual wins. That's the way I understand it. Am I wrong?
If Calgary gets 1 more win they lock due to the # of games won compared to OT games. So currently standings are CGY in 3rd with 96 points in 45 wins, Van in 5th with 96 points in 43 wins.
Ties are broken by games played first then wins
I think I understand what you're saying but I'm still confused.
Calgary has 2 games remaining, back to back, Friday, and Saturday against Edmonton.
Vancouver has 2 games remaining against LA Thursday, and Colorado Saturday.
Currently
both teams have 96 points. If Calgary wins the game on Friday, but loses the game on Saturday they will have 98 points to end the season with.
If Vancouver wins both games they will have 100 points.
How would the rules of a tie in points come into play in that situation? They would not be tied. Vancouver would end the season 2 points in the lead.
To lock up home ice advantage won't Calgary have to win both games in Edmonton providing Vancouver wins tomorrow against LA?
