I dont want to say too much about in combat because I dont have first hand knowledge of Americans in combat. Canadian tours on average are 6 months with a year break; I have heard stories of Americans doing a 12 month tour coming home for a month and going back on tour. When a Canadian is done a tour a lot is done to make sure he/she gets used to living back in society, I dont know if anything is done for Americans when they return.

My opinion is that the American military sees their soldiers as tools, where as Canadians see their soldiers as men and women doing a soldiering job.

Hehe my 5000th post btw

Eisensapper Eisensapper:

If they legitimately have been diagnosed with an OSI then they should not be forced to go, that is just putting his life and the life of others at risk. With that said one of the reasons they are extending tours is likely partially due to cowards running away. The States doesn't treat their soldiers half as well as Canadians, that is plainly easy to see, but that should not be our concern. They are criminals who have broken the law; we should not be a haven for them.

I did miss it saying she had done a tour 3 years ago, but that still does not give her a valid excuse to desert.

Did you miss my post?

Hadn't got that far yet, should have read the full thread before posting. I still think she needs to be sent back.

They all do, but I think the CF should do a little recuiting drive for the loyal Americans. Get citizenship and a job in the CF with previous military service.... 8)

Reguardless of where they go, they shouldn't come here and expect a free ride.

My own opinion is that if they truly believed they were being honourable in their stand against the war they would simply refuse to go and accept any punishment dealt them. By running away the demonstrate a lack of conviction in their beliefs.
