Time to privatize the CBC which is the voice piece for the Liberal propaganda for years.... We need GM, Mopar, Ford... WE don't need the CBC and it's Liberal chicanery...
Dave Hodge had it right about the CBC that night when he tossed his pencil into the air during a Hockey Night in Canada broadcast... It was the last time he appeared on CBC...

I agree with privatizing the CBC. That has nothing to do with the Big 3. Stemmer, you should check out Ron Paul's website or his recent interview on Bill Maher (it's on youtube..sorry, I don't know how to attach it here). Saving the Big 3 CAN'T be done. Attempts to do so will only prolong this recession. BTW, the continual grinding your auto industry axe in places where it has no relevence makes you look like a moron and a nutcase. Dave Hodge no longer appearing on CBC was the CBC's idea, not Dave's.

bootlegga bootlegga: mtbr mtbr: Give it away with conditions, for a set period of time
must continue to broadcast HNIC. X-amount of Canadian content, radio and TV access must be maintained to the boonies Those all sound like good stipulations...after all, aren't those why CBC was founded in the first place. sure what ever, if we give it away with a few conditions it will keep you lefties from crying while saving us billions and free us from the mouth piece for the Liberal party.

herbie herbie: Diddly shit more needs to be privatized. The word should be smacked right out of people's stubborn little heads. Not one fucking thing ever privatized is better, cheaper, more available or delivers better service. You seem to be okay with the way they burn through money and than ask for more.

Not one fucking thing ever privatized is better, cheaper, more available or delivers better service. How about alcohol in Alberta? Prices fell and selection increased after privatization. In fact, I challenge you to cite a single case of privatization that has NOT resulted in "better, cheaper or more available" products and/or services.

Even better, I'll challenge you to provide even one that did. You pay less for a case of beer? Bullshit.

herbie herbie: Even better, I'll challenge you to provide even one that did. You pay less for a case of beer? Bullshit. http://www.fcpp.org/main/publication_de ... ?PubID=649 I did two in-depth price comparisons last year of prices in the two provinces. The first comparison was numerically extensive: out of 1,845 products that could be found at two Alberta chains and BC’s government stores, over 82 percent of beer, wine and spirits could be found cheaper in Alberta and after looking at just two chains never mind even other competitors. The second comparison I made involved 166 products that could be found at 100 stores in Alberta and also at B.C. liquor stores. As might be expected, with more stores compared, an even higher percentage 90 percent of products were cheaper in Alberta. Prices are lower in Alberta for two reasons: one is taxes, but just as important is competition. Alberta has as many liquor stores as does B.C., but none of them have a quasi-monopolistic grip on the marketplace as do the government-owned stores in B.C. In addition, Alberta has a million fewer people than B.C. so Alberta’s liquor stores must more fiercely compete on price, selection and service in comparison. and as for service, ask any Albertan about lining up at an ALCB store like cattle anytime around a holiday. likewise for lining up at an Alberta Motor Vehicle branch. cost to the consumer is one thing but cost of delivering the service to the public is another.

Privatization isn't always the panacea people believes it is. I'd agree that there is more variety in liquor stores in Alberta, but privatizing the DMV didn't help Albertans one bit. Their hours still suck and their prices are higher.
Or how about Canadair? It was a Crown corporation and Mulroney sold it off for a few bucks. Now, it's part of the Bombardier empire, and according to RR, still sucking off the government's teat.

BS! do you even remember the AMV branch hours and line ups? you would need to schedule half your day around your visit. their prices are higher? what did you use for a price comparison? prices from 10 years ago? I don't remember a ADMV branch being open on Sunday oh look what's open now http://www.shawnessyregistry.com/0:

Yes, I remember the old DMV, I took my driver's test (both the learners and Class 5) from them. And yeah, the hours still suck. Many in Edmonton do not open on Saturday (just like the old DMV), or if they do, it's until noon. And the prices are higher because they add on a service fee, on top of the cost of registration. It might only be a few bucks, but it still costs more.

How can you say the hours suck when their open 7 days a week or until 8 or 9 on a week day? try looking around next time you need one they are open until 4 or 5 on Saturday in Edmonton. What do you think it would cost if the gov't was still running the DMVs paying those ridiculous union wages?

What do you think it would cost if the gov't was still running the DMVs paying those ridiculous union wages? I don't know of a single registry in Edmonton that is open 7 days a week, or open until 8 or 9. Most here close at 5/6 and if they are open on Saturday, are only open for a few hours.

Frankly with all the American broadcasting on the TV it's good to have a dedicated Canadian broadcaster. Personally I'd hate to see it privatized because I guarantee that in 6 or 7 years it would become just another US station on the airwaves. It gives Canada a mouthpiece to speak with itself.

mtbr mtbr: really BTW I don't remember any ADMV open at 8:30 AM. Congrats you found two, too bad none of them are close to me. And, no, the DMV wasn't open at 8:30, it opened at 8am.
