great. Let's shut down the mills, the refineries, the factories, the energy plants. Pull the cars off the road while we're at it.

I don't believe I said or implied anything remotely like that. You must've been desperate to type something.

You said exposing kids to toxic smoke was wrong. All the previous examples emit toxic smoke. ON top of that, please take note of the little lol at the end--a somewhat tongue-in-cheek comment.

I've grabbed cell phones out of the hands of people who have cut me off while chatting and driving their scooters.

I agree with you. I often fantasize about pulling up beside someone on the phone and layihng on my horn until they get pissed off.

I used to do that in Holland (where it is illegal :D)

No i'm 37 and I remember quite well that my mom smoked around us kids, she never gave it a second thought. Heaven forbid we should ask her not to smoke around us in her own car, we would have ended up with a nice smack for that. Never the less children today need protection and just because you don't think so, well it doesn't mean a whole hell of a lot.

Well, I'm sorry to hear that your mom smoked around you and hit you. Of course, children need protection. But protection is the parents' job. Are you gonna have children apprehended for being smoked around? It's either abuse or it isn't. "Shit or get of the pot, Dalton." If it's abuse to smoke around your kids, then send in FCS and apprehend the kids. But to charge parents $100 for abusing their kids is twisted fucking logic and an abuse of government power.

So should we get rid of law that protect children from sexual abuse? Just leave it to the parents to worry about? Despite the fact that sometimes parents are perpetrators. Children need protection sometimes from their parents, suggesting we leave their protection up to their parents alone is rediculous.

Then make smoking around children a crime and apprehend violaters' children. How about we charge parents $100 if they get caught slapping their kids? How about $5000 for an attempted drowning?

Make the 'little beggars' stick their heads out the window while your smoking. Be sure to zip the window up tight around their necks so they don't fall out of the car. Or you could just stuff 'em in the trunk. Either way works!

I guess you are done arguing reality.

I think he meant within good reason. If we know a parent is constantly getting drunk or beating their kids then something should likely be done.

personally I think our social services team in Canada do a fine job already. I would just like to see kids have more resources to go to at school to get help if they are being abused at home.

Well gee, why didn't we think of that?

We communicated, she smoked. That's the way it was back then. It's funny - my niece was a premie and no-one could smoke around her - doctor's orders - so no-one did. They smoked around the other kids though.

Well, I'm sorry that your mom was an asshole. My parents were pretty good at listening to me when I said something was hurting.

Back when I was a kid we didn't know any better when our parents smoked in front of us. We were kids, we didn't know they were giving us cancer.

Truthfully the sheeple still don't know. We are always expected to believe what we have been told.

The unfortunate reality behind these laws and why the police are charged with enforcing them is, people don't care until you hit them in the pocket....and even then it may take a few times for it to really sink in.

I think the next step should be taken and make it illegal for minors to possess tobacco, like liquor, wait until you are an appropriate age to f*ck your body up......boy that sounds weird... 8O

ROTFL ROTFL yeah let the 'clean' air as youre driving by the pulp mill kill
them instead.

This another example of a perfectly stupid law that will be almost
impossible to enforce. Would have been better to just run a publicity
campaign.

Bet the cop felt like real idiot after seeing the girl light up,
she wont be in a hurry to humiliate herself again.

In a world of limited resources, I'm not sure having the police spend time checking out smoking in cars is a good use of their time. More likely, it'll just be an excuse to give out more tickets. No one thinks it's a good idea to smoke around your kids. But does this warrant state intrusion? What's next?

Sounds like a good idea, but when the nanny state triumphs, ultimately we all lose, because it's unpredictable where we're headed.

Is the smoking age in Canada 19 or 18?
