"Principal Erik Millett has been at the centre of controversy since it was learned he ended the daily O Canada ritual at Belleisle Elementary in Upper Belleisle, N.B. because of the complaints of two parents."

I know you won't read this because you're an arrogant prick :P

Right in your quote - "he ended the daily O Canada ritual..."

"BECAUSE OF THE COMPLAINTS OF TWO PARENTS"

right in the quote

why should two parents dictate the events of a whole fucking school?

THATS THE FUCKING ISSUE!

The question of this thread however... Is it worth it to send that man death-threats? Is that normal behavior if you don't get your way?
Or, in hindsight, when you DO get your way? :?

The real issue here - the only one of interest to me, at any rate - is the thuggish response by those who object to the principal's decision.

It screams of the worst kind of knee-jerk jingoism.

That is the question of this thread . Blame Hurley for running it off track by questioning the original issue.

I'm not blaming anyone.

This man received death-threats by email and phone, even at home. I am sorry, but whether you like his decision or not, that is just NOT done. Absolulety unacceptable.

Pathetic dodge. What does how many people I quoted have to do with it? That article quotes the people who made the original complaint that started this whole mess, and their complaint was that they didn't get to sing it every day. Assemblies wasn't enough, they wanted every day. You can twist it into some sort of religious thing, which only came out much much later and in nebulous fashion, but that doesn't change the fact that this all started because it wasn't played daily anymore.

I agree death threats are not acceptable way to handle the situation, but if you read Hurley's posts he's still babbling about the original issue .

That's no dodge you moron. You quoted one person. Since when does one persons opinion count for the entire argument? My opinion is that it's not about how many times it's sung but that it's been banned from daily singing because of someones agenda. That's also the opinion of a lot of people. Sure a lot of people want it sung every day. A lot of people don't care such as myself. The point of the matter is that two people complained and daily singing was canceled. It could have been a weekly recital or a monthly, the amount isn't important, what's important is why it was canceled.

The threats are far worse then any canceled anthem. I don't understand what goes through peoples minds that makes them think that is ok. It's our anthem but in all reality it's just a song and you don't threaten people over a song.

In most schools, the anthem is played over the announcements in the morning.

Most schools? Got a link or something about that?

I had a job in which the nature of my work made me a frequent visitor to schools. I visited 50 to 100 schools per year. I am talking from personal experience.

One person's opinion pretty much counts for the entire argument when that person was the one who made the complaint that started the whole bloody mess. They didn't know why daily singing was canceled, all they cared was that it was.
