Most of that was increased transfer payments to provinces.

To bad its just an excuse as you right wingers have nothing but excuses.

The Libs produced surpluses and the cons produced a deficit. You can try and blame the Liberals all you want but it won't fly.

PostPosted: Fri Oct 24, 2008 1:01 pm

Surplus was from the EI fund.

PostPosted: Fri Oct 24, 2008 1:04 pm

The lib's must have thought the EI fund was some sort of "gift tax" dropped into their hands to do as they saw fit.

Nope. The EI surplus was taken from general revenue in the form of tax rebates. The Liberals simply used tax payer money to pay tax payer debt.

Harper railed against it but quick as a cat he used the fund to an even larger amount exceeding that of the Liberals.

In addition, the money used from the EI surplus constituted a small amount of the surpluses. Even if they hadn't used it they still would have produced surpluses and still would have paid down some of the debt.

Nope. Zig and I always post these same digs at each other everytime this subject pops up.

For once it would be nice to see you post that right after ridenhack posts his usual anti-Liberal/anti-Chretien crying posts.

Actually i'm directing it at you for posting this:

I for one am more concerned about the future of the country and the economy. This isn't about pointing fingers, we need to make our government do what's right for our country regardless of who's in power. If Harper can't do it then we'll have to find someone that can.

Then you should have said it after this:

like Dildo's plan would be any better.

in fact we would have an even bigger hole if that clown was in the chair

Its never about pointing the finger when the cons are in charge. Never. Suddenly its all about everybody pulling togeather for the betterment of Canada.

I don't recall you saying that when Martin was being relentlessly attacked after his minority win.

Given that Harper will likely force an election trying to ram legislation down parliments throat hoping the Liberals are too timid to oppose it I think it very important to point out Harpers utter lack of economic skill and him breaking yet another election promise.

This is the problem Derby, when one Con supporter says something you attribute it to us all. Fact is you have no idea what I've said about Martin or Chretien. When Kenmore says something rediculous I don't claim that all Liberals say those things. I'm more worried about the economy then what Chretien might have done ten years ago, frankly I miss the days of ten billion dollar surpluses.

I don't blame you all but I certainly use the term fairly. So far it seems no matter what happens or what Harper does the blame falls on the Liberals.

In addition, despite my statement if you were so concerned about a hackfest then clearly uwish's usual intelligent post should have drawn your ire because I don't feel the least bit bothered by responding in kind especially since Liberals and NDPers were getting called all sorts of names for daring to post "lies" about a CPC deficit.
