Regina Regina:

And i'll trust the stories of the 3 cops in my family over your "learned" experience with the police.

You're saying that all 3 cops in your family would buy some acting job every time? Wow!

As I said...doesn't matter he's getting blood taken at the hospital so they can figure out why he smells like booze and is a poor actor. The doctor then has a responsibility to notify police if that's how he arrived or was sent.

Ok your missing the point here. No, they likely won't "buy" it. They just won't give a crap if it means them being tied up in an ER for hours over this yoyo. Basically put they want him off the road and if they can pass the buck to the hospital they will.

I have both the cop and emergency channels on my scanner so I know what really happens, usually nothing. With a shortage of cops and doctors in rural Alberta it's not surprising.

My stepdads also diabetic and one of the reasons i'm glad I got my first aid so I know what to do if he fu*k's up.

Chumley Chumley:
He wasn't having a heart attack, he was diabetic.
6 foot 220 pounds and combative.

The paramedics said they needed to get the IV in.

Here's an alternate headline:

Man dies as police stand by and do nothing despite paramedic's request for aid.

Why not just shoot him, then? That'd make him hold still.

Speaking as someone who is a reserve LEO I have to say that automatically trusting three cops over anyone is not a good thing anymore. In my short time doing this I've seen several incidents where two or more cops give reports relating how an incident went down and their stories match up quite closely.

And then the video tells you a whole different story when it shows up.

You ought to hear the guys I work with bitch and moan about cell phone video cameras and etc. because video doesn't allow them to twist the truth.

My point is that LEOs have an innate proclivity for covering their butts.

I'm being sarcastic.

Seriously, if you're going to taser a dying man why not just shoot him and be done with it?

I really think that cops need to be prohibited from carrying tasers. They seem to be way to eager to use them and and they seem way to eager to kill people with them.
