Each side has more flaws. But I like the American border crossing experience better...they are more about security, and usually (in my rural crossing...not a fast Windsor/Vancouver type crossing), they always open the trunk.
But they're friendly and we're on our way.
When we come back to the Canada border entrance...the asses *always* ask for our receipts, and tax us.
I mean isn't there bigger priorities than taxing us to death?
The Americans are all about security However their tactics are more of intimidation than inspection..
The Detroit/Windsor border is the most grid locked crossing on the border. U.S. customs in Detroit are as far away as you can get from friendly, so if you don't have to cross there, don't.
Now on the Canadian side they are more about taxation than inspection. Especially on their own citizens..It's a piss off when you get a university kid with a badge that goes to his head, all though you can give it back to them cause they cant refuse you into your country. Just make sure you are not smuggling at the time....They actually have eased back preying on shoppers. I am sure it is to alleviate some of the wait times on the border to compensate for the Americans side interrogation..
