I'm not putting down the humor but the placement. I surf this from work and I doubt I'm the only one. Bad enough looking at pictures of girlfriends in swimsuits but this would take a hell of a lot more explanation.

Avitar is small and not easy to see but the cartoon is large enough to be seen from a distance.

What still? Why are you being so silly on this.
You can't possibly understand my concern here?
What about kids? How many of us are parents and share computers?
Think of the children, after all.

meaden24 meaden24: I don't think she should be planning her retirement anytime soon, the chances of her getting millions is about as good as if she buys a lotto ticket tonight.
Arar has accepted $10.5 millions. Her pot can be $2 millions.

Donny_Brasco Donny_Brasco: Loader Loader: Donny_Brasco Donny_Brasco: Loader Loader: If she still longs for the sights and smells of the ocean, put her on the Farley Mowat and deport her and it to Somalia, (after feeding everyone a hearty meal from the McDonalds dirty hands lady). With any luck pirates will board that sad excuse for a ship and remind the whiners how good they had it in Canada. Ya, 18 months in jail sounds like a good ol time... Actually I was talking about her, not him. She didn't do the jail time, he did. I have spent enough time in the middle east and have seen first hand how women are treated in public. The whole women aren't allowed to drive, can't speak to men they are not related to etc. So to see a Canadian born and raised don the Darth Vader outfit and act like Canada owes her sticks in my craw. Theres a lot of military wives who have done a lot more than 18 months without the support of their spouse and they didn't forget how to walk or blame getting arthritis on the government. So who paid her bills? Last time I checked the military paid - not much - but they still paid.
Good point, and losing that income sucks, however the charges have only been stayed. The staying of a charge does not exonerate the accused. The court hasn't declared Jamal "not guilty" or "unfairly incarcerated" or his incarceration a violation of his or his family's rights. The judge may have imposed some conditions on the accused which, if he doesn't comply, may bring him back to court. Or the judge may simply have suspended the judgement until such time as more evidence comes to light. In other words, it ain't over. I'm not sure why Darth assumes that just because the charges are stayed, her husband is innocent. She either needs, or is fishing for a better lawyer. Should hubby be found innocent then yes, there should be some compensation related to what his income would have been, which is far from the millions she thinks she is entitled to.

I'm no lawyer. but I have to wonder how "staying" or whatever relates to a speedy trial or is that just an American thingy or even tv fantasy?

The usual compensation is covering lost earnings and moral damages.

This is called a stay. The accused person is free to go, but the charge has not been dropped or withdrawn. Proceedings could be started up again at some future time under certain conditions.
So I guess it remains to be seen why the charges were stayed. If the crown screwed the pooch and does not have enough evidence to actually get to trial then I guess maybe this woman has a civil case worth a few dollars. If it is stayed because, perhaps, any time served in remand elapses any time he would be eligible to serve if convicted then I guess she'll be SOL.
