When the people of the entire world get off their collective asses and realize that we are ALL human beings, THEN and ONLY then will we realize that we are all brothers and sisters.
Peel back the skin and we're all the same.
I think there are some of us that would rather we all kill each other off.
No worries.
Darwin was right. It just may take a few millenium to figure it out.
Unfortunately, we'll all be dead in 200 years at this rate!!

I hate to be the one to 'burst your bubble', but I really think that at 'any rate' we are ALL gonna be dead long before that!

I was having a momentary lapse of optimism.....
WHY DID YOU HAVE TO RUIN IT!?
I thought about being an optimist but I don't think it would work!!

$1: When the people of the entire world get off their collective asses and realize that we are ALL human beings, THEN and ONLY then will we realize that we are all brothers and sisters.
And we'd all be living in Utopia!
And in the meantime, when one of those people without a hardhat will get a serious head injury while at work, his or her family would blame the company for letting it happen and sue their asses off.
If they won't wear a hardhat, fine, but then sign a paper, which makes sure the company can not be sued in case of an accident, and neither can the insurance company.
It will be your own responsibility... I wonder what happens when that happens?

Brenda, in my Utopia, no one wears a turban.
In fact, in MY Utopia, no one actually wears ANYTHING!!!
Not because we have all gone back to our roots but simply because, I like the thought of everyone being nude.
Ok, maybe not Oprah.
That is just wrong.

Robair Robair: BartSimpson BartSimpson: I say let them dispense with the hard hats so long as they indemnify their employer and anyone else the lawyers can think of for any injuries resulting from the refusal to wear a hard hat. I agree. I'm with the workers on this one. It is not a law, it is a new company policy. The've had their jobs for 20 years then one day the company comes up with a new policy saying they now have to wear hard hats. Sorry, THAT is bullshit. Not at all. Our company comes up with new safety regulations all the time, and I can assure you they don't sit around wondering how a new regulation is going to affect Omar and Ahkbar. Injuries and WCB premiums can be very costly for a company. I imagine a head injury could cost the company quite a bit not to mention the health of the workers. As it's been mentioned already, I think the employees should either wear hardhats or absolve the company from any future responsibility. For all we know the WCB could have toured the plant and forced Interfor to provide a hardhat policy, it's been done before.

Guys, I hate to be the epithet police here, but "Omar" and "Ahkbar [sic]" and "Abdul" are typical Islamic names. We're talking about Sikhs here. If you're going to toss out racially loaded names, at the very least use the right ones.

It is a federal regulation that companies must take all necessary means to protect their employees. If they do not their owners and or shareholders can face jail time. Don't blame the companies for doing what is legally required of them. In fact the workers shouldn't be fighting with the companies they should be fighting with the federal government. The companies are just abiding by the law. Look up bill C-45 if you don't believe me.

Like I said on the first page. If they do not want to follow company policy then they have 2 options. 1. Find another job or 2. Sign a legally drafted document that states neither the employee or any member of the employee's family will sue the company, the province or WCB for injuries sustained on the job due to non compliance of the companies safety regulations. The employee will not be able to collect unemployment insurance or WCB either.
I'm sorry if you can't take off you trban or whatever, but this is now company policy. I'm sure there are many other unemployed people that would be willing to wear the hard hat and be employed.
Like Newfy said Sikh's apparently can remove thier turbans and use some cloth under the helmet as an alternative. These 2 seem like they just want to cause shit and for that I say tough shit. Obey the policy or find a new F&%*ING job.
I am getting so sick and tired of all this relgious and PC BS that we have to put up with. Don't like the laws get the frack out and go back to whence you came.
