bootlegga bootlegga: Frankly, I'm not all that surprised that Conservatives are against this tax. After all, it doesn't help the rich or their big business friends.
Lame. They're against it because it takes money from government coffers, and with the coming surpluses estimated to be very low it pushes the government very close to a deficit.

DerbyX DerbyX: dino_bobba_renno dino_bobba_renno: lily lily: $1: To be honest it depends on everybodies personal point of view. Those with kids who will benefit will like it. Those who lose out a tax cut and have no kids won't.
I have no kids but I think its great. You have kids but think its bad.
I guess we are the exceptions that prove the rule.
I have kids, don't contribute to an RESP and I think it's a good idea. You should, it's free money. Even if you can only stick a couple hundred a year in it's worth it. Like I mentioned the government matches your contribution up to 20% and you also will benifit from the growth. What about the tax payers who say that tuition costs for post-secondary education should be paid entirely by those who attend the schools? Its a fair point right?
It's a fair point but investing in education benefits all of society (yes I know that's pretty cliché). I don't think anyone wants to see tuitions as high as those in the US either.
One Moosehead coming up! I’ll have to drink it for you though ![Beers [BB]](./images/smilies/beers.gif)

Nobody look but we are actually touching on the real issues between the parties (beyond all the partisan crap).
Every spending initiative, military purchase, tax cut, (insert whatever) takes away from gov't coffers.
Where you want that money to go should be why you vote the party you do.

Apparently not Derby.
Apparently I have to enlist before I can state mine...but somehow - you don't!
Go figure.
So the last time you took this tack with me I asked you what you had ever done that involved personal risk and even remotely resembled service to the community. Predictably - you avoided that question at the time.
Now that you have raised this again, I'd say it's "incumbent" upon you to now belly up and offer some response to that question

WTF are you on about.
If you want to dispense with the insults and attempt meaninful polictical conversation then do so and I'll respond.
So far all you have ever done to me is call me names and post insults and that goes right from the first posts I ever got from you.
I'm not even debating you in this thread and you attack me with posts I have no idea about.
What service do I give the community? Aside from working in a medical lab and several hospitals you mean?
What do you do?
You want a chance to start debating then show it.

I'm waiting for you to debate you beliefs.
Derby has led a rather sheltered and naive life of black and white, holier-than-thou, prattling zealotry delivered direct from his fat ass couch in lower middle-class, central-Canadian, union-pampered suburbia....
Accordingly one should take his prognosticating prattling frenetic self-abuse with a solid dose of salt. He knows sweet fuck all about the real world! And his opinion means less than worthless.

Great job there skippy. Not even worth responding to seeing as you are only illustrating your own ignorance and intelligence level.

Anyway, I read a little more about it. It's more of a tweaking of the current RESP. I'm not totally against that. I'm just against Liberal good idea's.

DerbyX DerbyX: WTF is Geocaching?
Geocaching is a game where you take a container (typically high quality tupperware or ammo cans, but really anything that's sturdy and waterproof), put some stuff in it (inexpensive little toys, stickers, pez dispensers, decks of cards, whatever), and put a logbook in it. This is the geocache, or just cache.
Then you hide it somewhere. You take its location with a GPS, and then you go to www.geocaching.com and register it. Then other geocachers download the coordinates and they go find it. They take something out, put something in (trade up or trade even), and sign the logbook.
There are variations too. Sometimes you post the coordinates to one location, but at that location is another set of coordinates and you go there and that's where you find the cache. This is called a multi-cache. Or perhaps you make a puzzle that you have to solve to get the coordinates.
There are caches all over the world. I found a couple in Hawaii when we went there on vacation.
It's a lot of fun.

That would be a blast! I'm going to look into this. The kids will love this.
