Cannabis will be legalized or decriminalized anyway, whether it's now or the near future.

Besides, on the surface, Dion denied legalization but where does he stand on decriminalization?

Legalization will never happen. You forget who our largest trading partner is.

So? And wouldn't the same apply to decriminalization too? Many times in our history, we've swerved away from American policy and that includes the Cold War, so why would this be any different?

Well you could be right but the fact we share a common border makes it unique from those other issues where we have deviated from US policies. The US all ready bitches about narcotics coming from our country (whether it’s warranted or not I don’t know) If you take a look back though a few other threads you’ll see that I don’t think decriminalization will ever happen either not only because of this reason but others as well. I will say though that it stands a hell of a lot better chance than full legalization. I think decriminalization would be a good thing but unfortunately we have to keep our buddies to the south happy.

uwish uwish:
sorry, I don't believe in safe injection sites.

What is wrong with this province? allowing people to inject illegal drugs into their body "safely" is not something the 'state' should be involved in.

Does this mean if I develop a drinking habit I can get wasted safely? will they take me home and make sure I don't suffocate on my own puke?

I can't stand this type of BS, lock them in a room for 30 days and let them sweat it out cold turkey style.

Addiction is NOT a disease, yes there are people who have a personality that is more prone to addictions (of any kind) but I refuse to see this as a disease why? because THEY HAVE THE CHOICE of injecting, cancer is not something you have control over.

Duct tape a rope that what they need.

Safe injections are there so they don't spread diseases such as hiv/aids to other drug addicts. They're are not there to encourage other people to take drugs but rather to deter drug addicts from spreading contaminated needles to other druggies. Secondly, what does alcohol have to do with safe injection sites? You are talking about drinking habits which is vastly different from someone is addicted to heroin. People have more control over the amount alcohol they can drink then someone who is a constant user of drugs such as crystal meth or heroin.

Soft on drugs, soft on crime, soft on terrorism.....we're so quick to judge so lets wait for when Osama Bin Laden immigrates and we'll ask him what he thinks of Dion....K? Osama's got balls, we should listen to him...... OMG, only in Canada would this be considered as reality.

"I'll get you my pretty... and your little dog too!" There, that would scare anyone straight! I'm ready for politics!
