Oh yeah, it's the fireplaces and wood stoves that have caused all our pollution. Couldn't be the industrial smoke stacks, belching exhaust from diesel trucks, pulp mills spewing smoke and chemicals into the air and so on. Nope it's my wood stove in my shop that did it all.....please....

I use a CSA approved stove and CSA approved insulated SS chimney. It still craps a bit but not as much as the old brick and flue chimney.

One of our local firemen advised me why wood-burning is banned for the most part near the GTA. Simple PC. Locally the trend is away from wood stoves due to pressure from the insurance companies or failure to obtain fire insurance with an operating wood stove or fireplace. The fireman cited the numerous calls they have with chimney fires as a result of unsafe operation of stoves and chimneys.

Yes wood heat is carbon neutral and avoids fossil fuel dependancy. I heated my house all day long with an old pair of rubber boots. LOL.
