Bolt action riffles fall under the Semi-Automatic term.

A bolt-action rifle is NOT a semi-automatic rifle. Not today, not tomorrow, not ever.

Correct my bad. I looked up the definition and it says

•(of a firearm) having a mechanism for self-loading but not for continuous firing.

Thus Bolt Action is not a semi like I thought.

It's not a gun problem, it's a mentality problem.

Americans are still stuck in the wild west, where guns solve everything.

And you're stuck in Canada where the government solves nothing.

Except they’ve solved mass shootings apparently, since we almost never have them. Also:

We don’t have a third of our population lacking adequate health insurance so there’s another win.
We don’t have cops who can legally confiscate cash from law abiding citizens for no reason,
We don’t have fire departments who let your house burn down because you haven’t paid your annual $1,200 fire subscription,
We don’t have almost most half of our bodies of water contaminated by farm runoff and industrial pollution,
We don’t have crime infested slums in every city and small town
We don’t force lower income kids into shitty underfunded third rate schools
We don’t poison drinking water with lead so Republican buddies can get rich
We don’t let food producers load our food with artificial hormones and pharmaceuticals and antibiotics
We don’t consider corporations to have the same rights as people
We don’t allow the ultra rich and corporations to buy elections
We don’t have an unprofessional public service where everyone right down to the local dogcatcher is a vote-grubbing, baby-kissing, publicity-stunting, donation-seeking, backroom-dealing, elected politician instead of a career professional hired for their their skills and experience.

And that’s just off the top of my head

I have a semi auto SKS. If I remove the gas piston it becomes sort of a bolt action. I have to rack the bolt to eject and load another round into battery.

Also have a bolt action shotgun, every time I raise the gun the turkey bolts.

Universal background checks
Assault weapons ban
Waiting periods
Close gun show and online sales loopholes
Gun buyback programs.

These are all good starting places for effective gun control.

One point of contention is the term Assault Weapon. What is one persons definition is not the same as another persons.

The rest I have no issue with. Buyback programs have for the most part been a joke here in the US.

I would also have a very strong look at the school system here. Kids are not learning how to cope with reality. They have a seriously hard time with rejection and being told no. Failure is part of life and to many kids now seem to be unable to accept and or cope with failure and want to blame others for theirs.

Mental issues have been brought up and yes some of these shooters have had serious mental issues. Still some have just been full of hate and or radicalized to a point where they feel things like this is normal. I don't think of this as a true mental issue more of a brainwashing issue.

The reason these “poor parenting”, “ video games” and “mental health” arguments fail is because these mass shootings only happen in the US with regularity. Canada, Australia and Europe have people who are bad parents, play excessive video games and have mental health issues and yet rarely do schools, workplaces and public spaces get shot up.

Americans’ access to guns is the only difference.

I think the causes of mass shootings is more multifaceted than just "access to guns".

I quite agree. The biggest difference can be summed up with the question, "do you lock your doors?". When you get home, and you close the door behind you, do you lock them? I can see it if you live in a big building in a big city, but in urban and rural settings most people don't distrust their neighbors enough to lock their doors.

Most people in the world are not as divided as Americans. Our politicians don't get away with some of the shenanigans theirs do.

Domestic Terrorist Timothy McVeigh murdered 168 people without using a gun, so keep thinking banning guns is the answer.

Try buying a lot of ammonium based fertilizer. See how long till the FBI checks on you to make sure you actually have a farm.

That still would not stop an individual from committing a Domestic Terrorist Attack because there’s always a way. With the right knowledge an IED could be built using materials bought at Home Depot. Other examples the Boston Bombers, Bastille Day Terrorist killed innocent civilians without using a gun.

So your logic is...

"If you can't solve the problem completely, you shouldn't even try".

And as a result purchases of ammonium nitrate are closely monitored and unusual purchases are reported to authorities and actively investigated so keep being completely ignorant of what you’re talking about.

SO STUPID AND FALSE. Cars are more regulated than guns in the USA. All motor vehicles require stringent licensing that must be renewed every 5 years, registration that must be renewed every year, and insurance, all of which is stored in a central database that can be accessed nation-wide. People who use their vehicles irresponsibly can have their cars confiscated and driving privileges revoked and can be fined or imprisoned. Or do you not know how driving works?

To the second meme, all evidence suggests that the US neither controls guns nor raises kids to be great people I guess since these shootings only happen in the US, if Americas lax gun laws are not to blame then the only logical conclusions are thatAmericans are the worlds shittiest people.
