N_Fiddledog N_Fiddledog: From the article: $1: Desjardins senior economist Helene Begin said in a written statement that nearly 80 per cent of the overall gain was concentrated in Ontario, which added 47,100 jobs in April, and in Quebec, which saw its jobless rate fall to 4.9 per cent for its lowest level since the survey's creation in 1976. Shouldn't this be in your Doug Ford thread, Beave? Nope Ford’s first budget was released less than a month ago so obviously he had nothing to do with it. But thanks for reminding me to thank Kathleen Wynne on behalf of you, and the right-tards. Also Doug isn’t premier of Quebec.

Well back in the day this would have been considered just another economic indicator but, given how our current PM and his friends have screwed up everything they've touched during the past year i'd say that this is definitely an unexpected bright spot for the Liberals.
Now, all we have to wait and see if another of their less than sane PC decisions destroys this publicity windfall for them? Although unlike BF, I have my doubts if this will do much to reverse the steep decline they find themselves in.

Renewed investor optimism. 80% of the overall gain in Canada's economy! Woo hoo! ![Cheer [cheer]](./images/smilies/icon_cheers.gif) Go Doug. Now tell us the one about how Obama is responsible for the Trump resurgent economy, Beave. That one's chuckleworthy too.

I have to admit, this may be accurate. Ontario has continued to exceed expectations, specifically in the youth employment ranges (growing since January). Something I am more than a little jealous of here in Alberta. Based only on this report, it does certainly look like Quebec, Ontario, and BC are the big winners (in that order), with Alberta, PEI, and New Brunswick doing okay-ish (a couple notes in Alberta make me hesitant to place them in this category, but until the next report, my worry on it may be unfounded). I haven't gone into the raw data, as of yet, so I don't have much of an opinion on the remaining provinces/territories, but it does appear that they will fall into the okay-ish zone, at worst 'not terrible, but not great'. Honestly, Alberta's scares me the most, which may just be bias, but I do want to watch the upcoming reports carefully on it.

raydan raydan: llama66 llama66: BartSimpson BartSimpson: Je refuse de parler français. Il a dit parler français. Nice of you guys to put a cédille under that "c". La cédille ‹ç› (de l'espagnol cedilla, « petit z ») est un diacritique de l'alphabet latin. Elle ne se place en français que sous la lettre c, autant sous une minuscule que sous une majuscule : ç, Ç. You're welcome! You should see me huntin' and peckin' to type that using the alt- çode!!! (alt 0231)

You could install the French(Canada) keyboard and just switch over when you need it.

BeaverFever BeaverFever: Dougs been premier for like 5 minutes his very first budget, But this isn't the first time this has happened, is it? A government you support has a rotten economy. Some are hopeful it will change. They even see indications it might. But it doesn't until somebody else takes power. Then there's an instant economic success. Failure/Success. Black/White. Like that. What accounts for it? Coincidence? Dumb luck? God hates Prog->Comms? All I know is there was an economic burst last month. Doug Ford's Ontario was responsible for 80% of it.

No. You’re lying again The economy wasn’t “rotten” before Doug and there’s been no “sudden” improvement since Doug. ” it’s been good and growing for several years now. As I already told you. So stop lying, liar.

So, allow me to extend my sincerest congratulations to Justin Trudeau, Patti Hadju, Doug Ford and François Legault for creating an environment conducive to such a massive job increase. But here's a thought. Can you imagine how great it would have been for the Liberals image if the 100,000 unemployed Albertans went back to work to?

Ways to go for what? It’s still a record even even with a small minority of the new jobs being temporary or part-time. $1: But here's a thought. Liberals don’t control the price of oil or the policies of greedy oil companies.

Lying? You're projecting again, Bud. You should really deal with that - your problem with projection, I mean. You did tell me of this economic marvel fantasy Wynne-land you appear to believe in but as I recall it was a debate and as I recall, I won. The way I remember it Wynne-land was more like this: $1: Now that voters have returned Kathleen Wynne to power, the premier will need to find a way to manage a debt load that is larger than California’s while continuing to keep the credit rating agencies mollified long enough to avoid a dreaded downgrade.
With a net debt of $267.5-billion that is growing at a faster rate than the economy, the challenge is just beginning for the party that emerged victorious from the provincial election. https://business.financialpost.com/news ... be-ignoredOntario was relying on the charity of the other provinces for equalization payments at the time for a reason. Businesses were leaving Ontario in bunches. Doug Ford takes power and business confidence doesn't just rise, it skyrockets. Hope for deregulation and tax relief among other things will do that. So in the month of April there was a Canadian economic boom. We can hope it continues and thank the current premier of Ontario that 80% of that month's boom happened under his provincial leadership.

Kathleen Wynne didn't get voted out of power for creating an economic utopia in Ontario but if things continue as they're going Doug Ford may get re-elected for doing it.
