Or they get given uniform tops for work like the men get. Thick short sleeve shirt things you couldn't tell man from woman even after you read the name tag....
Wife gets the uniform top provided, dress code says black pants and shoes go with it. They can wear a black skirt, but nobody does in grocery.
She always tries to give me the tops for undershirts once they're washed so much they're baggy but they're too heavy.
FFS she's so old if she gained another 10 lbs she'd need a bra to keep her nipples from hanging out the bottom of her shirt...

That's a good idea. Or even a step further, just add a super scratchy decal in the inside of the shirt that gives you bloody nips if you don't wear an undershirt.

I don't think you're right.

The uniform requirements are there to make their employees look a certain way. If a male employee wore a bright neon shirt under his McDonald's uniform saying "f*ck you" that showed through the uniform, he'd be required to take off that undershirt too. Same for people with obscene tattoos. Your place of business gets to decide how you present yourself to the public on their time, in their place of business. If you don't want to look the part in their uniform, find 1 of the billion other jobs that don't require you dress a certain way.

I think that we are both right. You are correct that a business has a right to dictate certain aspects of an employee's appearance, however certain laws come into play as well. Gender equality laws. Just like when the airlines were telling the female flight attendants what makeup that they were required to wear, but there was no requirement for the males to wear makeup. That did not fly. If a business was to dictate that all employees had to wear an undergarment under their work shirt, then that would probably hold up. Requiring only female employees to do it would not. There are a lot of flat chested women and a lot of big men with huge man boobs. Requiring only female employees to keep their nipple covered probably would not hold up. Just my non lawyer opinion anyways.

I think we agree. I think neither of us like absolute laws either. The law needs to work for us, not bash us over the head.

I think the same places of business have the right to not hire morbidly obese men with big boobs if that doesn't suit their brand. But at the same time, I think if a man chose to wear a woman's skirt, or, put on a pair of spandex uniform shorts that look fine on a female but clearly show a man's banana hammock, that also shouldn't be allowed if the place of business doesn't want that sort of image.

I think a fair law would say "the uniform is intended to look a certain way" So if one woman has tiny boobs, she may not need to contain them under her shirt, but if another has DD's, well, she needs to do something so they don't look obscene. The same way you'd require a male employee trying to sport spandex short shorts to wear the non spandex type because that isn't how the uniform is supposed to look.
