Let me get this straight, you think the deal's bad because Bombardier which should stand on it's own and be able to compete against EU subsidized Airbus because it's workers are to blame?
That the bleating orange fool who just stated in the last debate 'NAFTA was the worst deal ever and he's going after Mexico and the others' is some kind of saviour? We're the others in that trade deal FFS!
That a handful of farmers worrying they might end up making cheese out of Canadian milk (yeah, like that will ever happen) are heros standing against 500,000,000 other Europeans?
Jeez, you're as fucked up as US Republicans! We might actually have a trade deal with equals instead of simple cheap labour dictator states, and you're happy not to?

Errr, who are you referring to Herbie?

I personally think CETA is a great deal for Canada, Europeans are paid more, have a more valuable currency and half a billion consumers to sell to. If anything, I am surprised that Europe is willing to do this deal with Canada. Their benefit is small.

And with all the Muslims and Africans they're letting in willy-nilly they're also building up a huge pool of low-wage labour that can be used to gut the wages and benefits of native-born Europeans. The rape epidemic and terrorism that's ensuing from such immigration is a price well worth paying if it means extra value for shareholders and job creators. Ain't the free market grand! Hoo-rah? :?

The alternative you are going to suggest is?

We trade, that's what countries do. If we don't others will and our producers will be left with a warehouse of inventory and no destination.

Put obscene profiteering for the few as a distant secondary priority to the overall health and safety of the many, of the nation, and of the culture for starters.

I think that as a parting shot, Canadians should gather outside the gates of the Belgian Embassy in Ottawa with a very powerful sound system and recite the names of the 7,000 Canadians that are engraved on the Menin Gate, in rotation for a day or two.

We've been "wallooned"! Vot a choke.

I was referring to the group, not specifically you shockedcanadain. Though I don't quite share your enthusiasm, nor your disdain for Canadian business.
As I said, at least it's a deal with EQUALS where our companies will be quick to run off and relocate for cheaper labour. Sick of them celebrating trade deals with SriLanka or countries so useless they couldn't afford to buy anything but frickin wheat off us, when they already do.
I don't like what others despise - the idea corporations can dictate our health, safety and labour standards and as a resident of FOREST country -fuck off and die, we will not SELL our forests to private interests just cuz they're stupid enough to.
And I also blame our govt's more than business. Continually intervening to keep the dollar low means there's no reason for businesses to actually get more competitive.
