Bart with all due respect; and I mean this is a nice way, until you have LIVED a system, not simply been exposed to it, it's very difficult to fathom the fissure of differences.
I had this discussion with Americans before. I explained to them, "when you are in another country you assume the universal, natural laws that Americans hold so dearly. You don't appreciate the fact that these systems have little regard for these premises".
This isn't just about police. It's about a greater system of individualism, transparency and accountability.
You do not know me. Don't assume that you do.
I've been to lots of other countries and I've met lots of people who didn't agree with my views on American values. They also thought they had estimated me correctly and they were wrong.
That said, I've been on this site for eleven years and have tried to convince our resident liberal population that not everyone in the world shares their same ideas on gay rights, birth control, sexual degeneracy, atheism, secularism, and etc.
And I've been told I'm a 'racist' for not thinking that every last Muslim who goes to Mecca also worships at the
Temple of Diversity, Multiculturalism, and Infinite Tolerance. 'Nuff said?
