I don't defend radical Islam...
Maybe you don't
think you do. From where I sit and with my personal experience I see little difference between espousing idealistic liberal views and defending radical Islam. Over the years you've intersected those two paradigms many, many times.
I mean you no offense when I say your main problem is a lack of personal experience with the Islamic world. Your Muslim neighbors are not of that world. Most of them left it and for good reason. Sadly, most of them also miss that world and they want to impose it on you.
The reality of Islam and Islamic culture is that it is pervasively misogynist with women being the scapegoats for male misbehavior. Islam is a man's world where men are almost never held responsible for their own actions.
Wiki - which runs pretty liberal - even speaks to this:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islam_and ... c_violence Yet how many times have you argued contrary to positions on this topic taken by various aspects of the UN and women's rights groups?
Why should Islam get any kind of pass from you? And why do you seem to insist on trying to separate Islam from the fruits of Islamic culture?
Further, why is it that in the past you've ignored or denied the words of Islamic leaders who have said things that are contrary to your view of Islam? Why can't you take them at their word?
If these Muslims are not defending Islam from certain accusations then why should you?
Things to ponder.
