One of the tech/EA guys here is Inuit. He was adopted as a baby by an RCMP constable and his wife while they were in Pang and raised in PEI. He always refers to himself as an Eskimo. When the kids ask if he's indian he says, 'no, you guys have those big round cow eyes and we have squinty eyes.'

Because they deem it an insult. Why do they have to have used a derogatory name themselves to be able to object to it? We've certainly moved on from calling the Inuit Eskimos. Would a team call themselves the... "Indians" these days?

I deem many things an insult, but I'm grown up enough to realize they aren't meant as insults and let them pass. 'Indian Motorcycle' isn't an insult, but should then be shamed into changing to 'First Nations Motorcycle' because some Generation P'er can't make that distinction?
