I very much doubt that massive fraud will be perpetuated by bagladies or men dressed like them. The conservative scams will make bagladies look like amateur hours. But I want some freaking rules that apply to every body. Bagladies have to remove the veil to do the actual oath for citizenship, as they should. They have to remove it to get a driver's license, at least I hope they do. They should have to remove it if a cop asks them to identify themselves. And we should require picture ID to vote. There may not be much fraud of that kind now, but that's like saying you an run around with an assault rifle because we don't have many mass shootings.

And I just came back from voting in a small town where every scrutineer in the place knew who the hell I was. I had to show the driver licence, they wrote it into a book and I had to sign the thing to get my ballot.
The law says that's good enough, so that's good enough. Shit it's already beyond common sense and into the bureaucratic "that's policy" bullshit in my case.

But again, I doubt there's much fraud from individual voters, ie people claiming to be who they are not. The fraud happens with the robocalls and such, and hamstringing elections canada the way Harper has.

I don't have a problem with photo ID for voting BUT not until there every province offers a generic photo ID at little or no cost, like Ontario and most US states do. Currently, the only universally accepted photo ID is passport or drivers license but many poor people don't drive or travel abroad so don't have photo ID and they are expensive.

passport won't cut it for single piece of id as it doesn't have your address. Licence/provincial id is mostly what's required. I agree, make them cheap to get. BC has one, don't know the cost.
