It's just a group mentality that needs to constantly reassure each other they are right, and doesn't deal well with other points of view. Reminds me of high school.

The reason I get so into refuting the anti-Muslim hysteria on this forum is because I worry about the country adopting the same stance. As more informed people than I have pointed out, make all Muslims the enemy, and they will become just that. They won't inform on the radicals in their midst, will instead start to support them. It's only natural, you and I would act the same if it happened to us. This is playing with fire.

My idea is that if people react that strongly to contrary points of view, they're not all that sure of the validity of their own. It's the same thing I suspect for other groups, like Islamist or Christian fundamentalists. They need the constant re-assurance of their group that they are right. and condemn the infidel/sinner with incredible viciousness. Guess it's uncomfortable to have your certainties challenged.

What happened in England is that men with a Pakistani background often work in the taxi and take-away business. This allowed them easy access to young girls at risk, ie in care or poor homes. Most of those were white because Muslim and Sikh parents are much stricter with their girls, but there were victims from those two groups too. Yes, there was some political correctness in not going after these gangs but much more serious is the attitude of the general English public towards these girls.
