andyt andyt: fifeboy fifeboy: Coyotes are smarter than people! I have a friend who is ( or was--he is in his 80's now) a cowboywho worked one of the larger community pastures in western Saskatchewan. They said they had yotes eating up their calves, (he was not impressed when I suggested they were probably feeding on already dead carcasses.). They got the Gov. to build "sniper towers" all over the pasture. They were stunned that only a few yotes were taken. They just avoided the towers when someone was in them. The are smarter then we are. When global warming sends us back to the Permian, yotes will be working the shore of the swamp and if global cooling sends us into the Pleistocene, they will be chewing on lemmings in central Alabama. Off the topic, but crows are smart too. They know what a rifle looks like, won't leave their perches when a farmer just comes out with a broom pretending it's a gun. But let him have a real gun, away they go. Ravens are the coolest animal in the north. Should be our national animal.

fifeboy fifeboy: Jabberwalker Jabberwalker: We do that to ground hogs in this part of the continent ... big, fat (but wily) gophers, really. And excellent table fare. Just not wise to shoot them with the "varmit getters" as they are skinned, minced and cooked before you get to them. Rabbit is as close to rodent as I want to eat.

Good Grief, if all Scots were as timid as you, they would still all be in Ireland.

Coyote culling is nothing new, but this whole contest thing is kinda f***ed up.
As far as killing them because they're "coming in to town", meh..... We keep overtaking wildlife habitat. Not their fault we leave them no place to go.

Hey I've eaten things that would make you blanch....made me blanch after I found out what it really was. Sorry I came from a clan that could afford to eat beef, pork and lamb, even after the MacDonalds got through stealing or molesting them

The absolutely worst thing I have ever eaten is grits. Just awful!

Don't mind them if they have something else added to them like fried onion and bacon, hot sauce.....or anything that gives them some flavour.

Is that how your clan et Coyotes? (or "puppy stew", like that recipe from the Dead Dog Cafe)?

Geesh, just because you got one bad coyote, doesn't mean they're all bad.

Didn't you say something like that over on the latest "terrorists" thread?

They ate my Buddy and my Candy and they left so many bitemarks in Sidney Souphounds bum that he couldn't sit for a week. That is why I find them worse than spiders. On the upside, the peeps who bought the pasture by our house and removed the cool tree patch we used to play in and we haven't heard coyote noises since! Oh and they planted canola and it looked so pretty!
