This would be like BC Cops lining up at the BC/AB border and fining flat landers for not having a front license plate.

Odd you mention that. The only ticket I ever got in BC was for not having a front plate on my California registered vehicle - which was legal at the time. I wrote a letter with the citation and added a copy of the California Vehicle Code on the topic and the issue was dismissed.

At the time it seemed a very petty thing to get stopped for.

That's funny actually. Every time I go to the US the first service station I see, I stop at to remove my front plate. That way when I'm going with the flow of interstate traffic, which is almost always above the posted speed limit, it makes it much harder for state troopers to single out my Canadian plates and nail me for speeding.

Criminal code issues are much different than non criminal code issues.

I don't think criminal statues should be different from state to state, no one is arguing non criminal issues should be handled by each state as they see fit. But murder is murder etc.

In Canada federal criminal code supersedes any provincial regulations, that being said when it comes to firearms, even here each province has their own CFO who willy nilly likes to change the laws as they see fit.

That shouldn't be a ticket even in Canada - Alberta only uses one plate and if an officer stops you in a province where they use two, they are supposed to ignore it.
