As has been indicated in other police violence stories in the US, Canada really has to look at how many officers might be abusing steroids. They do this in order to get jacked up and gain strength for dealing with hyper-violent criminals that are also doing steroids, or who are out of their minds on drugs and can't be quelled by pepper spray or tazers. The other consequence is that the police too often end up flipping out over something completely trivial, like a traffic stop, and an innocent person or someone who's only committed a very minor offense ends up with the shit kicked out of them.

A Camrose dentist who alleged she was assaulted by an Alberta sheriff has been herself been charged with assaulting a peace officer, as well as resisting arrest.

Simona Tibu, 40, was to make her first court appearance Wednesday, but the matter was put over until Sept. 18th in Camrose.

The Justice and Solicitor General's Professional Standards Unit has received a complaint against the sheriff who was allegedly involved.

The sheriff has been placed on desk duty while the RCMP investigates. He has not been charged.
