Zipperfish Zipperfish:
Wow, sounds like a PR fustercluck from start to finish.

Last time this happened to me (ran out of bus tickets, just had a bill) the driver (who I didn't know) waved me through with a smile and said "catch me next time." (Although I still would have been busted had the transit cops come on board).

Did you pay extra the next time?

Brenda Brenda:
Wow, that is ridiculous.

Why doesn't the 'fare machine' take bills? Why doesn't a driver have petty cash?

Damn, stupid idiocy that could easily be taken care of infuriates me.

Would you want to drive around with a few hundred dollars strapped to your body? It's an open invitation for "mug me please"
I sure as fuck wouldn't.
You can bet everybody would want you to change a 20. You would be out of cash in an hour.
Transit systems sell tokens tickets, bus passes etc so no one has to carry cash .

Brenda Brenda:
You always blame the victim, don't you.
Only when they are at fault.

$1:
You don't see how this driver (as well as the 'inspectors') are just major assholes?

Nope. If you want to use the bus then you need to play by the rules of the bus. Don't like it, then get a car.
Bullshit. She offered the driver $5 while the trip was $3. He didn't want to take it because he is an asshole, and called his buddies, who fined her, but let someone else go who had an expired ticket. What's your excuse for that?
$1:
Should the bus be able to take bills? Maybe. But a refit would be millions and millions of dollars that could be saved to keep costs down or to improve service.
Bullshit aswell.
$1:
What actions did she take to secure a ticket? Did she ask anyone to break her bill into coins?
HE drove off without giving her a chance, and when someone wanted to pay $3 CASH for her, he told her 'Nevermind, it's free'.
Did you READ the story? Oh wait, let me consider the source. No, you didn't.
$1:
Again first world problems. If the biggest problem in your day is that you can't convert your bill into coins to pay for the bus your life isn't that bad.

She came out of the ER with her child, you dickhead.
Do you know HOW bad her life is?

Note to self: Don't let this fucktard get to you, Brenda. Breathe.

Are you related to the woman in this story? Everything you claim to be true is only her opinion. The driver let her ride for free. Do you think he pushed some secret button under the dash board to call the Transit cops? Fuck you are dense.

Yes I did. I always pay my debts, even to an anonymous Transit system. Good karma.

Eh, I haven't used mass transit often, but how do they catch people not paying their fare?

How do the transit cops know? Security camera footage? I haven't used mass transit often, but I don't remember ever getting a receipt or anything like that

They just hop on a bus and check everyone for a valid ticket, which is like your old transfer, but is now given with every fare paid, showing time bought and number of zones paid for.

And in the GVRD if you can't produce one of those they just shoot you which proves how efficient the rapid transit system can be. :D

Not quite, the transit police usually travel in packs of 2-3, so the first thing they do is call for backup, then when there are 4-6 of them they can easily throw the suspect to the ground to make it easier to taser them, usually 3-4 times to make them more docile, before finally finding out the little old lady on crutches didn't bother to purchase a ticket as she had a monthly pass.....

I usually buy a pass so when the C-Train coppers board the train and I see them I pull the damn thing out. I never have trouble.

They call it "meat tenderizing" in the Transit Police trade ...
