Wow! We've got a nanday conure, too! Cricket is 22 years old now and she screeches like mad when she sees a cat! Yours gets along with the cat, I take it?
Mine is also 22!
"Get along with" is close. 'Have an understanding' is closer. I had 2 Nandays (one passed a couple years ago) and they used to tag team my cats. Cat would be sunning themselves, birds land on the floor at 4 and 8 o'clock. Cat looks at one, the other advances. Cat, now attracted by the movement looks at advancing bird, other advances. This continues until one has the cat's tail, and the cat is howling to be let go.
So now, Goofius does not try to eat Blackbeard, Blackbeard does not try to eat bits of Goofius, and I keep the peace with a nearby watergun.
When sister brings her dogs over, all bets are off. I've had Blackbeard land on Goofius and hitch a hasty ride to the part of the house the dogs aren't allowed. Although, the dogs were raised from puppies with both the cat and bird, so there is a 'truce' underway. But dogs communicate by smell, and nethier cats nor birds appreciate that.
Blackbeard is my buddy. His 'thing' is to lean up against the nape of my neck, stick his beak kind of under my ear and coo. He'll sit there for hours! It's his happy place. likes to help me kill zombies too.
