And why would it be their only option for food or drink?

I guess these kids have never heard of that antiquated custom called packing a lunch or using that so like last century technology called a thermos.

Hope they can all find jobs upon graduation next door to a Tim Horton's.

No kidding.

I take my first meal of the day (breakfast/mid-morning snack) with me to work. Takes only a few minutes to throw together in the morning and is healthier and cheaper than I could buy.

What's a Tim Hortons? Oh you mean that place that sells shitwater labeled as coffee?

Tim Hortons coffee is awful. I'm a bit spoiled for my coffee source, but I'd even take gas station coffee over Tim Hortons

When I was a kid a mile walk to the cafe was infinitely better than school dinners.

If they were anything like my school meals a kick in the teeth would have been better!

*walks to the kitchen and grabs a cup of her home-brewed coffee, which is a million times better than any other coffee, and close to free*

Try going in the middle of winter to Timmies in my Canadian home of Yellowknife. I did it twice in a phase 2 blow. I don't mind at all walking from Old town where my house is located. sounds like a bunch of lazy dopes on rope whimpering.

Were you doing it with only 15 minutes between classes? Was it your only option for any type of food or drink that day?

Am I missing something? From the story it sounds like they're whining about a 1km walk to timmies being to far, how do you know it's their only option? Every college I've ever been in has multiple places to get food in them...ie food kiosks and cafeterias.

"Was it your only option for any type of food or drink that day?" What are you talking about? Their ONLY option? That's impossible! Besides a cafeteria, as others here have mentioned already it's not that hard to think ahead a little and pack a lunch and a thermos of coffee.

F..k me!! I can't believe how lazy and pathetic the people in this world are becoming! I'm so glad I grew up when and where I did, we actually did things outside, you know, that place where things grow & the wind blows and there is natural sunshine?

I don't want to walk a km, it's too far, waa waa, I don't have the brain capacity to pack a lunch because my mommy isn't there to show me how!! Coffee maker? WTF is that? Thermos? What? I can't believe these kids are whining (publically) about something as insignificant as how far the nearest Timmies is, wait for real life idiots, I hope I never have to consider hiring one of these fools.

We've created the technological wonb. Within 250 feet of where I work in dowtown Vancouver, there are probably no les less than 40 eating establishments. Pizza. Sushi. Subway. Chinese. You name it. Not to mention three or four food carts set up in the street.

We live in a fairly prosperous, but incredibly busy, society. Everyone has money, no one has time.

Grandpa: Back in my day, we use to walk 5 miles in the deep snow just to go to school

What a bunch of wusses.....

Back in my day we had a 5 mile slog through the snow......uphill....

in both directions.....

You were lucky. Back in my day we had to walk five miles in snow up to your eyeballs just to get to the road. Then you had to walk another five miles up a mountain in more snow, and when you got to the Tim's they poured the boiling hot coffee into your cupped hands.

A while ago I looked up a paper route I did when I was a kid.
Lot more than 1 km, 6 days a week.

Kids are stupid lazy these days.

In warmer weather I remember riding a bike to school or going into town on the weekend with friends. It was 10 km away and we did part of it on grid roads

I rode a bike to school every day. 13 kms from my house to school. In wind, rain, snow, freezing temps, everything.
