Isn't Wiccan just one variant of a plethora of neo pagan theists? Sort of like saying all Christians are Roman Catholics or all Buddhists and Muslims all have the same set of beliefs

Yep. Most of the Wiccqns I know or have conversed with couldn't agree for a moment what exactly represented their beliefs. The Rede certainly wasn't it is is generally confined to rookies and tweenies until they grown out of it and mature their faith through exploration, research, and life experience.

I think Mr. C was a Wiccan for a day.

Brenda Brenda:
There are many inmates who have suddenly "found God" and "are a different person now" compared to who they were when they did what they did. Why is that fine, but ANY other religion is not?
That's fine? I don't think so. Being in prison you have most of your rights removed.

Why not remove this one? Why leave religion but not other rights?

Is the justification rehabilitation?

What "other rights" but freedom are removed?

As long as it doesn't reduce their sentences, I could care less what these low lifes do in prison and that includes any religous ceremonies they want to ascribe to.

I'd prefer to see them get their religous fix in jail rather than be given an early release because they can't be granted their religous freedoms and for the infintismal amount of the prison budget it would cost, just go for it.

But, in order to keep every crackpot and looney from trying to get this priviledge there should be guidlines about the number of inmates required before being granted a religous guide in prison, either that or, make the postion of pastor priest or whatever a volunteer position and if there's anyone willing to do the job then it could morph into an actual position if required.

You are saying you don't get raped while free, on the streets? In your own bedroom? You tell that to all those raped women who "can't get pregnant from rape". All those women who are abused by their husbands. All those men who are abused by their wives.

Other than that, for some (and more than just gay men) anal sex is a choice.

(Yes, I get it was a joke. I just don't find it funny)

Who are you to legislate the removal of someone's hope?

Well a lot of people "find" religion in prison. As far as I'm concerned to be fair if your going to allow one you have to allow them all.

Just wondering how well this would hold up if a group of inmates claimed to be acolytes in a Satanic group?

Shouldn't matter. No one religion is any wackier than any other.
