Really? Iraq I don't care to argue, but how do you figure that we started the war with Afghanistan?
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan as it was known back then did not attack American nor did it declare war on American. Infact they wanted to handover OBL but under certain conditions ( something that would let them keep some pride that it happened on their terms and they could save face, which have discussed is a big deal over there ), bush and his administration said they would not negotitate with the Taliban, because that would not quench the blood lust. Something they were very well willing to do with that goverment in 1999 when several Taliban leaders visited Texas. Some years earlier.
And also remember the Taliban were not the "enemy" before 9/11 or even until US invaded Afghanistan. Al Qaida was. You don't wipe out a country looking for one wanted man or even a group of men. But a military option was opted instead and we all know what has been happening ever since.
