Doesn't matter.

An assault is an assault, whether the punch results in a cut or a bruise.

An assault is an assault. An assault causing bodily harm is more than an assault. An aggravated assault is more than an assault causing bodily harm. So it does matter.

Point being, they are both worthy of police attention and they're both unacceptable.

Can I just state the obvious, 99.99% of the time if you don't hit someone, no one will hit you.

I'm going to disagree there, in cases of domestic violence. Often the guy will hit without having been hit. I wouldn't know the percentage, but I bet it's over 50% of the time. As the story says, 10% of men think it's OK to hit a woman if she makes them angry.

One thing women will often do tho, is keep pushing his buttons until he does hit. (Note I said often, not all the time or even most of the time). It's something I think they need to take some responsibility for. But not in a legal sense - if you haven't been hit, you have no excuse to hit.

And of course, as OTI's vidoe says, women hit men more than men hit women. And women are more likely to use a weapon. But all that said, it's still mostly women who wind up in the emerg, not men.

I agree with you. Regardless of the gender of the one assaulting.

He's an idiot. A real man walks away if she won't leave it alone. But I wonder what Baba Wawa thinks about a woman slapping a man?

I can remember the Maintenance Man @ the Port Arthur Curling Club dying from repeatedly being stabbed by his ex girl friend at work in front of scores of witnesses.
He had just kicked her out of his house the night before she was on welfare and the court went easy on her she got off and promptly left Thunder Bay shortly after.
Can't remember the victums name or the year of the incident but wittnesses said she had grabed the olfa knife from his tool box and was lunging it towards him.
The fellow raised his arms and asked her...What do you want to do kill me.
She made several slashing motions and sliced the main arteries open under his arms and he bled to death on the spot.
I guess the moral of the story is if you are in a dangerous relationship get the hell out of it before it is too late.

I think you're not telling part of the story. I can't see her getting off under the circumstances you describe. Maybe she was found guilty of manslaughter and got a lenient sentence. Like the woman in Vanderhoof who got 2 years house arrest because she was a good person who would not do it again. Or the woman who got 3 years probation because she was native and drunk at the time and was in treatment.

I wonder how many women think it's acceptable to hit a man.

Badly said!

Why? Since when is it not valid to look at both sides of domestic violence?

Socially acceptable where?

In reality.

Imagine the outrage if a women came up to a man in a bar, make a rude comment and he slapped her in the face.

He'd be in jail within an hour.

When a woman does it, it's funny.

It's a complete double standard we have. It's socially acceptable to hit a man because he's rude or because "he can take it".

Look at TV shows and movies....

Yep. Care to guess how many times a woman has come up to me and lifted my kilt, or grabbed my ass to find out what I was wearing? It's funny as hell to them but I wonder what they would if out of nowhere some guy walked up and lifted their skirt or grabbed their ass? Not so fucking cute then.

Thanos Thanos:
A woman generally can't put a man in a hospital, or the morgue, with a couple of punches the way a man can almost certainly do to a woman. And the heroes of the sleeveless t-shirt subspecies usually don't stop at just a couple of punches either. That's the reason for the different social and legal perspectives, boys.

So the idea of an assault isn't the issue it's the damage being done?

Noted.

Of course he did. I take it that more than 9 out of 10 are not rednecks.
Which proves my point: Rednecks find it ok to hit women

It ain't just us rednecks darlin'. Them high falutin' bidnessmen in the city kin be jest as quick raisin' their hands.
