Thanos Thanos: I don't see what responsibility President Obama has for any of this, even if the military tribunal does give the killer a death sentence. He's got nothing to do with it. Except that in the warped moral calculus of the far right these days, Obama's comments are worse than murdering a bunch of kids too little to know they were Afghans.

It's only gonna get more interesting. On the late news tonight I heard that this soldier had suffered a severe head trauma while serving on one of his multiple tours in Iraq. So, if true, it begs the question, WTF was a soldier who had suffered a severe head trauma doing in a combat situation in Afghanistan.

Good. Not really. There's a good chance that taking one to the brain bucket may have contributed to him going postal. Good is him taking one to the skull now. After experiencing a cranial injury, I'd like to know the doc(s) who OKd him for a return to active service.

I guess all hockey players can retire. And so can I, I had a concussion when I was 15. Disabled for life... It was his forth tour. 3 in Iraq, 1 in Afghanistan. I'm thinking PTSD is more of a reason than a concussion.

$1: A concussion is severe head trauma?
uhhh...yes. It is. $1: A concussion is a traumatic brain injury (TBI) that may result in a bad headache, altered levels of alertness, or unconsciousness.
While recovering from a concussion, you may: •Be withdrawn, easily upset, or confused •Have a hard time with tasks that require remembering or concentrating •Have mild headaches •Be less tolerant of noise

uhhh...yes. It is. I disagree. It depends on the severity of the concussion. One can function perfectly fine after healing. I take it breaking a leg would mean "in a wheelchair for life"?

I just love Karzai's response to this: $1: "This is an assassination," he said. "This is an intentional killing of innocent civilians, and cannot be forgiven." I wonder if this bozo even realizes that the minute the US pulls out that he'll be number one on the list to be behead or be executed? It's high time for everyone to get the hell out of there.

well you can disagree with the NIH and all the experts who've been looking into how concussions have impacted the health and behaviour of professional athletes. I'm not excusing his actions, but looking for a reason he may have gone from a decorated soldier to a mass murderer

We are talking 1 concussion here, not regular blowns to the head like boxers, hockey players and football players endure. If 1 concussion would make someone a mass murderer years after healing, we ALL would have been a mass murderer.

head traumas affect different people in different ways. I'm not a medical expert, and I'm just going by what medical experts say. perhaps the lingering damage coupled with PTSD were the deadly cocktail Who knows?

What I don't get tho is that the mental condition after 3.5 tours is not taken into account. Or even after 1 tour. How can you expect people to be mentally sound after so much crap? I have seen a few people go to Srebenica in the 90's. NONE of them came out of there in the same mental state as they went in... Why would Iraq and Afghanistan be any different...

You should just stop right now, becasue you honestly don't have a clue about concusions or brain trauma. Do you have any idea the level of concusion one endures who survives an IED strike? You don't, but some very smart people who went to medical school do and what they say about IED strikes and the damage they CAN cause to the brain is alarming.
