'Miracles do happen': Malaysian minister expresses hope as Australia says new black box 'pings' are best lead yet in search for missing jet

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/world/m ... z2yEk1zrPP

"We continue to hope and pray for survivors," he said.

Is this guy on crack ? 30 Days at the bottom of the ocean and you are going to publicly announce that you are still holding out hope for survivors?

No wonder the families are so frustrated with the Malaysians, this guy really needs a lesson in public relations.

:D

Now I am reading reports that the last satellite info, or the half handshake, occurred just as the plane ran out of fuel and went down.

http://news.nationalpost.com/2014/04/07 ... -location/

The irony of this is that it is looking more and more like the security features implemented after 9/11 to keep people out of the cockpit are the same features which kept people from being able to interfere with whomever was piloting it while it was taken off course. I am speculating but this is the appearance at this point.

Plane Search Shows World's Oceans Are Full of Trash

I wish that they'd wear something other than Speedos.

Actually one of the first argument I had when joining here was with Gunnair denying the existence of the pacific garbage patch (or one of them) because he'd sailed to Hawaii and hadn't seen it.

I've posted a few stories about all 5 patches.

I have to wonder too, how much profit there would be in fishing out all the recyclables.

MH370 search relocates underwater signal consistent with plane’s black boxes

http://news.nationalpost.com/2014/04/08 ... ack-boxes/

This should be enough to deploy subs. Hopefully they can pinpoint the location in the next couple of days.

All my money is on the pilot, the mysterious phone call from the dummy phone, the flight simulator, the deleted data.

Motive is still a huge question but with the security of cockpits, he had the best opportunity.

The towed pinger locator on Ocean Shield can pick up a signal from about 1.6 kilometres away but they will not deploy the autonomous submersibles till there is no signal left or till they know exactly where it is, which they will send a camera down. They want to continue to pinpoint an exact location.

"The better Ocean Shield can define the area, the easier it will be for the autonomous underwater vehicle to subsequently search for aircraft wreckage," Houston said.

Ok this might be my last chance for wild speculations so here goes.

Is it funny that no one has mentioned that the plane went missing on March 8, and Malaysian Airlines stock had it's worst 2 trading days in history on March 6 and March 7 ?

Could this simply be a matter of a disgruntled employee who caught wind of his pending termination? The unusual sign off could also be an indicator. It would also explain all of the secrecy by Malaysian Airlines due to the potential liability issues. When you think about it, if he did have a grudge against the company, then having a plane completely disappear would probably be the way to have the most drastic impact.

I mean everything about this situation seems unusual and this is no different but we are talking about the worst stock prices over at least 1800 days of trading. I only say at least because I can't go any further back than 5 years.

Too weird.

Watched an interview with the girl friend of one of the missing Canadians. She thinks that the plane is hijacked and she is waiting for a ransom note, she also claims this is the most popular theory  . I hope that find these pings are the aircraft so this woman can carry on with the grieving process.

They're now saying finding it is only days away, so in that case there'll be some very surprised people out there.

The Australian Maritime Safety Authority released a map with the Ocean Shield's towed pinger locator detections. Between the 1st and 3rd contact is nearly 30kms with the 4th being only about 10kms away from the 3rd. I think their detection equipment is much better than they are publically saying. 8O
