DanSC DanSC:
My entirely-uninformed and amateur opinion is that this is similar to the Times Square bombing attempt; someone acting alone with outside advice. That attempt even used a pressure cooker.

Possible but unlikely. In this kind of scenario the riskiest part of the deployment comes immediately after the device is deployed. The potential for the device to be discovered is great so the practice among the terrorists is to detonate almost immediately after the deployment and sometimes concurrent with it - meaning that the trigger man sets off the device while the schmuck deploying it is near...probablya reason why the young Saudi kid is a 'person of interest' in this matter. He may have accidentally survived being killed by his colleagues.

Thus with two devices about 100 meters apart it's probable they were set by two different people but detonated by just one person who was probably clear of the area or who was able to view the area.

In this case I can't for the life of me think what the message is supposed to be. But you know, if we find him, let's shoot the messenger.

Shoot em? I was thinking more string him up by the nuts, but if that falls through, sure, shoot him.

BTW the message is terror.

That's just your problem. The message is MORE then just terror. The message to me was all those people who jumped over the barriers to help their fellow human beings in pain. Those people who acted not on fear but on empathy and compassion.

To me those people are a message 1000 times stronger then any bomb that went off at Boston.

Your welcome to take your message of terror all you like. Keep passing laws that prohibit freedoms in the name of protection. I"ll take the imagine of those people jumping over those barriers to get at the wounded. It may sound crazy or hippie but that's the image I think is more important to take away here.

The third device story has since been dismissed. The only two devices found were the two that exploded.

Ah, alright, well still. It seems a bit complicated for a "lone-wolf" to take the extra risk to deploy two bombs instead of just one larger bomb, especially if it was true that the device was put into position not long before the explosion.

Well there saying now they think a timer was involved.

And you know how there's that BOLO out for the dark guy with the foreign accent? Apparently he was trying to get into a restricted area. Well, I think I heard somewhere there's video of him with more than one backpack.

My problem? My message? Where did you get that idea? The question was "what was the message they thought they were sending". That's not my message. My reply suggested that's what what they think theirs is.

I get your point though. We're not receiving. We're saying "Fuck you, and your message Bud." Right?

No I'm addressing the ideas. In no way was that a "fuck you". It was more a "I hope if that is your message you understand....".

I'm not the fuck you type very often.

Unfortunately, the powers that be don't take away that message from it all. They enact more draconian laws, slowly chipping away at civil liberties and conveniences we once took for granted. They claim the extra security is to protect our liberties, and we're all aware what Ben Franklin said about that well intentioned(or maybe not) path.

The reaction we witnessed, strangers helping the wounded without concern for their own well being is hard wired into most humans, regardless of their society....it's not something Westerners have cornered the market on. What happens in the near future is going to be the message we take away from this. I'm a realist, so I'm not overly optimistic

This event is just an excuse to take away more freedoms. The people that want to take away our liberties wanted to do that before this happened and this is just another excuse to them. Just like Newtown was an excuse and so many other events before that were excuses.

Frankly, I have less concern about terrorism than I do about the people who want to turn my country into a wall-to-wall police state.

Police are officially asking for tips about anyone in the area carrying around black nylon bags.

Bombs apparently made of simple gunpowder and ball bearings placed in a pressure cooker. Still seems like lone amateur to me....no group claiming responsible either
