Mustang1 Mustang1:
poquas poquas:
Any of you guys had one of those “bozo” clowns? You know the one that’s filled with air and has the sand filled bases and whenever you knocked it down, it just came back up again.

That’s Stemmer and his arguments. 14 pages of “I’m right your wrong”, and nothing more than his personal opinion to back it up.

Hell, the Bozo punch bag has a higher IQ!

It's the same tired junk, isn't it? Domestic good. And why's that? Vettes sell well at auctions. Oh, okay, but what about the quality or reliability of modern vehicles, you know the ones that most people drive? Oh...well Consumers Reports (note: Consumer Reports slammed the quality of GM in the Feb issue) and my mechanic like them. Oh...is that it? Well...in WWII...

This is xenophobic hypocrisy (he has Japanese electronics and buys his sweatshop clothes with no problems) at its finest. He tells us what to buy and he chucks out the same principles when its him. The reality is that the over the past couple of decades, the domestics have largely produced junk quality, inferior engineered cars that couldn't match the reliability of Japanese. Guess what? Consumers got it too. And no, i don't care what his buddy at Jiffy Lube says either.

I guess you never swatched the ABC's 20/20 report on how car manufacturers can buy "car of the yea" award" and how ratings from those magazines are really calculated... The more advertising car company sends, the better ratings in the magazine...

I don't think Toyota makes the Celica or the Supra anymore...

And Chevrolet doesn't make a '64 'Vette anymore either, but that doesn't stop you bleating on endlessly about such cars.

You know, they have a word for that:

HYPOCRITE!

Clearly proving that your knowledge of Japanese cars is stuck in the '70s.

Too bad the jest of that discussion is way over your head as it appears it is beyond your humble comprehension skills... Perhaps you should start a thread of which your expertise would be better in tune with... "Who makes the better cheeseburger - A&W or DQ" or "Tim Hortons or Dunken Donuts - which have the better apple fritters?"

This Big Three problem is of a serious nature and I can not express how their survival or failure may very well dictate the direction our nation and North Amercia will take... IF you want our standard of living reduced to that of a third world country, then applaud the demise of the Big Three... IF not then pray to God they survive and stop selling your soul to foreign imports when a good domestic product is available...

So what does a 1953 Skyline go for? O a 1957? 1963? 1971? Come one...enlighten me...!!!!! XD

No idea.

Argumentative fallacy. Ask him how much a '87 Caviler goes for, not a nostalgic car that exudes history. And then ask him to compare his Vettes to Bugatti, Mercedes, Bentley at auctions. Same dumb comparison.

I know it really has nothing to do with the discussion. No one saved or preserved a 1957 skyline because none of the people 50 years ago gave a shit about it, probably because of the same mindset Stemmer has.

1) I never said Celica.
2) Ford doesn't make the GT40 or the GT anymore
3) I overlooked shelby ALSO being aftermarket. So that narrows you down to vettes, stangs, vipers, challengers, chargers. Cause Hemis are engines, so why it's included in a list of cars I have no idea.

Isn't the Supra a Celica?

Shelbys are sold at Ford dealerships so a Shelby Ford Cobra Mustang isn't really aftermarket...

Shelbys are aftermarket. They are customized cars. It doesn't matter where they are sold.

No a Supra is not a Celica.

I mentioned a Nissan GT-R doesn't have heritage like a Corvette. Then someone mentions Skylines have been made for 40 or 50 years....

They do have heritage like a corvette. They have been made for 50 years. But because of xenophobic mindset, no one kept them around until the 80s.

Big difference between Xenophobia and being pro-Canadian or pro-American? Who do you cheer for in the Olympics or IIHF games?

I'm suggesting we support our own North American industries first and foremost... In some sectors NA does not have a presence...

If we are going to taint this thread with bigotry and racism shall I post links to current news stories about blacks being denied promotions by Toyota and other Asian countries because the Japanese view blacks (and woman) to be inferior? So PLEASE let's not go down that path....

I guess you've got nothing on Car and Driver or Consumer Reports either? They came to similar conclusions regarding Japanese and German cars. Buy hey, you've got auctions as your unbiased source and that really trumps informed periodicals.

Fine. Now prove a 1963 Skyline is as valuable as a 1963 Corvette? Or a 1957 Skyline to that of a 1957 Corvette? IF these cars are so desirable they must command som big money in Asia!!!! NOW...Please enlighten me or is the above merely your opinion (of course to which you are fully entitled)....

Asia doesn't have the same mindset North Americans do either. They don't buy a car to keep around and not use, they use it. So there aren't any preserved there. That's why they are in car showrooms and museums.

WIKI is unreliable but links to legitimate sources like AP, CBC, BBC, ABC, CBS, MSN, National Post, etc are more reliable... They have to be fairly accurate or risk litigation...

I would if they didn't make an inferior product.

We are talking about their cars. Nothing else. You just can't stand the fact the Japanese cars are superior to the big three.

You have a dislike for foreign (although this stops at your T.V. DVD, Camera and clothes apparently) products. Its irrational because you hinge your "argument" on nonsensical mush from WWII and your inability to grasp the fact that Toyota and Honda have a significant manufacturing base in Ontario - one that the "domestics" seem to be abandoning.

Every modern publication on automobiles in the last decade has lambasted the general lack of quality, dependability and engineering that has gone into MOST of the domestic's car segments. Japan has routinely kicked their ass in reliability, quality and lower depreciation and consumers have wised up to it. You can hold onto whatever nostalgia you want for the good ole days but i'm not taking 35,000 dollars for a car and gambling on a domestic, just because it used to be significant. Besides, its likely that my money will be going to workers in Canada, NOT Alabama, Michigan or Kansas
