To anyone who thinks the gay community almost universally condemns this decision, think again.

One gay I asked said:
$1:
Any radio station that can't understand why we wouldn't want that word played on the air is crazy. Justify it by saying you've played it for decades?

Society had done lots of things for decades, that doesn't mean it was right. Slavery went on for decades. Whites called minority races by a few choice words for decades, that was wrong.

I just might have to call this radio station myself.

Another...

I for one, refuse to permit anyone in my presence to use this type of speech. I find it most offensive!

And this one's short but sweet...
$1:
I HATE that word so much.

Audio/video proof or it's just hearsay.

I was enriched by hearing the song.

Stop whining and listen to it then.

Beaking off is what we do here. Sorry if that eluded you.

Or, if you don't like hearsay that suspiciously parrots the point of view of the hearsayer:

Gay celebs weigh in on censor

I was just trying to show that the gay community is divided. Their opinion isn't universal. Actually in my personal observations most gays don't like it with only a minority not minding it. If it makes you feel better, one gay I spoke to said the decision was "stupid."

Still only hearsay dude. I can say I personally interviewed 100 gays today to see what their opinions were, and say that all but one of them said they think the ban is stupid. But I have no proof, so why would you believe me? Why should we believe you?

Hearsay has no place in an argument or debate.

Actually, here is an idea: I don't know of any openly gay members on this site, but if there are, and they don't mind us knowing they're gay, I'd like to hear them weigh in on this. They would have more right and a more solid footing saying whether this is offensive or not than any of the straight members on this board.

From the linked article most gays interviewed didn't have much of a problem with it. Most of the opinion pieces I've read oppose the ban. Actually it's difficult to find editorials that support it.

The CBC has on an online survey here. So far, of 6296 votes at time of printing, 95% oppose the censorship and under 4% support it.

I wonder how many of those 95% don't realize the government's not banning the song.

If I was stupid enough to believe I would have been one of them.

I believe the CBSC said the song is to be censored or it will be banned.

So in effect, the original song in it's entirety has been banned. However small the modification, it must be modified to be allowed to air again. Sounds like a ban of the original product to me.

Yeah, yeah, you're such an intellectual giant trapped in Lilliput. Clearly anyone who doesn't agree with you is a moron.

Listen, this site has a little thing called rep points. You may have noticed that I have 490 of them. That's more than anyone else here. Therefore I expect to be treated with awe and abject deference.

You, on the other hand, have managed to rack up an unenviable record of neg reps in your short time here. You don't even deserve to be in the same room as me. You don't even to be in the same room as a toilet in which I once crapped.

Now apologize, then fuck off.

BS use of quotes, and bullshit quotes without you listing the sources. I feel like having a nice bowl of alphabet soup followed by a laxative to effectively counter this post.

If you don't want to believe it, then don't. But you'll be wrong. These are real quotes.
