The building owners don't want to be associated with anything to do with the Confederacy, apparently, after the weekends events. I know you can't possible even understand why someone would feel this way but that's your problem to figure out.

Colby Cosh said some charitable things about Jefferson Davis.

http://nationalpost.com/opinion/colby-c ... 801e29ef2f

I suppose he should be fired for saying anything nice about the man. :|

Also, here's a thought:

Native Americans waged war against the USA. Should we tear down their memorials because they're offensive to the families of the people who died at the hands of Apaches, Navajo, Seminoles, and etc.?

ShepherdsDog ShepherdsDog:
An authoritarian regime is a an authoritarian regime. They all use the same tactics and have the same results. The fact that you try and differentiate between the two is pathetic. It's like saying being murdered by thug carrying a Colt.45 is better or worse than a thug with .50 Desert Eagle

WELL... you could look at the historic value of being murdered by Wyatt Earp's weapon.

No one built up a political strategy aimed at using the Natives as a weapon in order to achieve race-based dominance the way the Republicans did with the Southern Strategy. Do you find it wrong in the slightest that the South and all the rotten old ghosts it contains have perpetual control over American society? Do you even find it slightly obscene that at least a couple hundred thousand Southern boys, mostly from small towns and family farms, ended up dying in the Civil War all to prop up an economic system that enriched the patrician slave-owner class who had as much contempt for the lives of the lower-class whites as they did for the lives of the slaves?

Lee Atwater on his deathbed was terrified of going to Hell for what he'd unleashed under Nixon and Reagan and desperately tried to recant and repent it to any of his final visitors. This should be made more widely known, if for nothing else than the further education of those who would recklessly toy with such forces simply for their own political and monetary gain.

Well I hear you're welcome to remove their names from your sports teams.

The other difference is that Nnative Americans were fighting against being endlaved, whereas your heroes were fighting to enslave others.

Something that actually deserves to be remembered and eternally memorialized.

Never to drag on the ground, no matter the worst efforts of that pig in the White House to disgrace it.

I always think of Marching Through Georgia as the carpet baggers' song, because there's that scene in Gone With the Wind where the carpetbaggers arrive in a buckboard and that's what they're singing.

Edit: OK, just looked it up. Here ya go...

As always Sargon makes some provocative and well evidenced observations. This time it's background to Charlottesville:

$1:
Why does America honor an accused rapist?

That’s what Juanita Broaddrick wants to know.

Speaking exclusively to The American Mirror, Broaddrick denounced the lack of efforts to uproot a monument to Bill Clinton in South Dakota, the man she says raped her in a Little Rock, Arkansas hotel room in 1978.

“I would like to ‘personally’ use a sledgehammer on it, with the help of Kathleen Willey and Paula Jones,” Broaddrick says.

A life-size statue of Clinton stands at the corner of 7th and Saint Joseph Street in Rapid City.
