EyeBrock EyeBrock:
Free speech DD? Not anymore. Nobody dare say anything against Islam in the west.

From Fulford's article in the NP.

$1:
Many of us worry more about the rights of the Islamists than about preserving our own traditions. We set up human rights councils to protect Islamists from words they might find offensive.

The West now lacks the conviction our way of life needs and deserves defending. Is modern Western society, four or five centuries in the making, a unique collective achievement? Or is it simply one way of organizing society, neither better nor worse than others?

The attack by Islamists should have encouraged us to confront this question. Instead, we have done our best to avoid thinking about it.

It’s become clear free speech and free inquiry are among the chief targets of the Islamists. They have developed the term Islamophobia as a stick to shame their critics into silence. At the same time, Islamists and their sympathizers have devoted themselves to finding reasons to be enraged. In this pursuit what they call Islamophobia is their rhetorical ally.

Are you not in the West?

Protip: Criticize Islam all you want. The minute you try and deny someone their Rights simply because they have something in common with some people who committed an atrocity is the minute you've stepped over the line between Criticism and Bigotry.

What are you talking about sand? And what's with the upper case letters thrown in every so often without any grammatical reason? Is that for effect?

You should just stick with saying 'fail'.

It did make you look like the strong silent type. A couple of sentences show your limits.

Ah ok, so when a priest speaks out against islam and gets dragged into kangaroo court a la the CHRC but at least 4 imams in Canada are known to have denounced us and our country and promoted hatred towards us and the CHRC suddenly finds some reason to stay out of it, that's not bigotry? Though it's a perverse verison of it.
It would appear that muslims over here enjoy freer speech than the rest of us.

Maybe if some radical 'Christian' group commits an act of terrorism, then we can create Christophobia and then anything radical Christian groups say or do can't be condemned without the CHRC calling it a hate crime against Christianity.

sorry but I couldn't resist posting this update to the story.

Frankly let him. It's just more sales for Dawkins and maybe it will inspire people to read the book and discuss it. I don't agree with everything Dawkins says either but even if I did I think it's petty to get upset over something so small.

I guess the man had to appease his followers need to burn things somehow. Heck may as well throw Hitchens, Baker, and Harris on the pile.

In other news, Fred Phelps, angry at being upset by this upstart nutter, decided to burn copies of the Koran and American flag together. (Seriously.)
