Ken, maybe start off with getting to know a few Muslims and their families a little better, You will see they are no different from anybody from you. All they want is a better life for them a chance to etch out a decent living, and peace and security to raise their families.

I have see and read stories and interviews from people across the globe regardless of race, faith or country, in warzones, conflicts or just an average peaceful city and this is basically what everyone says they want.

Don't let the actions of a few nutters cloud your judgement, I believe most people are decent, warm, friendly beings. I've spent time and interacted with almost everyone across the globe. From Jews to Buddists from Uruguay to Iceland. We are all the same man. We might look different, have diffrent cultural backgrounds, have different morality, but we are all the same.

Building bridges and education on all sides is the key. Being in this what can be roughy as a gas station on the global highway. We get an excellent oppurtunity to get to know each other.

On the door to my left stays my Dutch neighbour on my right stay my phillipino neighbours, door right across stay my Indian neighnour. Just a small example.

Regarding who to trust, you in Canada are more at risk from domestic terrorism from groups like The Brigade d'autodéfense du français than you are of any crazy corner street mullah. There have been more incidents regarding cuba in canada than any muslim attacks ? In fact there have been more attacks on muslims and mosques than vice versa in Canada in the aftermath of 9/11

If such was your stance you should be lashing out at the anti cubans, the sikh khalistanis and the FLQ. Which again would be wrong to judge an entire community by the actions of a few.

Learn to you use your god given intellect instead of using the propaganda machine churning out hate spun in a web of lies.

Life is too short to live in hate and isolation friend

Cheers

I've got nothing against Ken or anyone else. He is just not well informed that's all and has been a victim of the populist media campaign which currently has Islam in its crosshairs.

And there are many like him and when they are made aware of the true facts or learn to use their own reasoning they have a change of heart and opinion.

Don't worry dude most of us know that there's bad and good people all over the globe from all walks of life. My mother has muslim neighboors from Morroco fine family that invite her to dinner from time to time because she's alone, I keep in touch with an old coworker who is from Burundi and my brother in law is Lebanese, christian but Arab none the less.

Just ain't too crazy about the burka thing is all, the muslim people I know don't like them either.

ShepherdsDog ShepherdsDog:
The problem is that most Islamic nations are theocratic, or the clergy has the gov't by the short hairs. Therein lays the problem. This why the issues of pedophilia, homophobia, abuse of women and children are not dealt with. Secular lawyers not clergy need to deal with these issues. As for defending Mohammed's incest, it's something that is indefensible. If you read the news from the West, you'll see that the Church is not allowed to obstruct criminal investigations of its members. The law is supreme not the pulpit in a secular society.

You should tell that to the Catholic church. It amazes me that Benedict isn't in jail for his coverups for pedophile priests while he was a cardinal.

You both are right the Popes job as a Cardinal was to "fix"
the problem of pedophile priests and he hid it well. In Fundamentalist countries where religion is supreme above the law you have a similar problem these evils can be shrouded in the name of God, except it isn't really in the name of God. It's people abusing the system.

DD. You are obviously a decent chap and really, if more Muslims in the UK, Canada and the US were like you and were confronting the idiots that use Islam as a cover, there wouldn't be this terrible perception of Muslims being jihadis within.

Unfortunately you in a minority. I don't know if you have heard of Tarek Fatah in Canada. I have a lot of time for him and his message of moderation. He challenges the idiots but he's a lone voice at the moment.

Until people like you and Fatah become the mainstream voice of Islam, we will be suspicious of overly religious Muslims.

I intend to pick up Tarek's latest book soon. "The jew is not my enemy"

He's on the Michael Coren show every Monday or Tuesday night.

His daughter works for the CBC and she produced the only pro-police column I saw from CBC Toronto.

When Coren and Fatah had the 1600 hrs show on 1010 CFRB it was excellent. Funny show and both guys are very bright.

I like to think decent Muslims are actually the majority. But until decent Muslims, especially in the west, stand up and speak out strongly against he nutbars, their decency isn't much use. Just keeping your head down, hoping it will go away just is really a form of support for the jihadis. Just like decent Germans kept their heads down - look at what that got them. A country that went beserk, lots of pain and suffering all around.
